cquartz help

Guys dont get confused too much.. seems you are getting panic too fast for nothing.. first thing... 10 min and more is the right time for curing. it should feel little sticky surface.. for applying and wipping i suggest you to use the suede's wrapped on the blue sponge applicator only,, forget the cotton pads.

here is another tip for you guys... once you finished waiting the cure time, use another new suede wrapped on the blue sponge and start to wipe off. its more handy and easy to work wipe... then use SHORT LOOPS MF !!! not plushy, not thick mf or anything like it... this is not oily wax, use terry clothes or any thin mf. it wont mar your paint. this is the most important thing here... the lints leftover you got are from the long hair mf . and if you get any spots you find hard to remove.. you can remove them with ipa while its still fresh..and apply again.. ofcourse not to work under direct sunshine.. any other questions you can always contact me.

Good info, Avi!

another thing is, im getting lint form the towels left behind.... if i leave it any longer its going to be almost impossible to take it off... its already at 10 min tough to remove..

Trust the advice. Short nap mf's work better IMO for removal. 15 minute minimum. Hell, you could leave it on an hour and it'll still come off the same way it does after 15-20 minutes. In colder temps, upwards of 30 minutes is needed. It will not react the same way on removal if left for the proper amount of time. It needs it to set up properly.

Richy!!!!!!!! :righton:

thanks everyone for the replies, yes it does having a learning curve i will admit. The longer the cure time the better. AVI YOU NEED TO FIX YOUR INSTRUCTION LABELS ON THE BOTTLE I WENT BY THE BOTTLE INSTRUCTIONS AND WASTED MY TIME NOT COOL!!! But thanks again avi for the help. i used reload today 3 hours later and it removed all of the finger smudge look alike ordeal lol . i will have pics up hopefully on friday. it is coming out nice but it does cause some marring which is something i dont like. AVI you say use terry towels? terry towels WILL mar your paint. they also shed more than a longhaired dog. Mark its coming out ok, i'd def. say next time it will be better tomorrow im going to finish the car. i tried doing some work right now but my shop lights were attracting bugs and they were landing all over the paint and getting stuck I felt like I was at war with mother nature lol. again, everybody who has commented on this thread, thanks alot. business is going great just got to get used to all this new stuff lol. If opti coat is harder to apply then this then i dont know if i would ever use it. BUT being that it comes from DR G and I trust in his products i will give it a try :)

Avi is talking about terry weave microfiber towels. Not terry weave cotton towels like you are thinking. The marring is from trying to fight it and buffing it off too soon. Now that you understand how to use it you shouldn't have any issue. You want to let it set properly for ease of removal but also so it can bond and you don't decrease your durability by removing it too soon.

:thankyousign:

OC is easy to apply and there isn't any removal/buffing except for high spots.

And here I was thinking, "wow, I am glad I chose opti-coat instead" ;).

Though your complaint about labels and directions will likely follow you to opti-coat. I read the label on the opti-coat for amusement, not to say it is a bad label, but from two weeks or so of reading on here and copying to a text document to form a set of directions and notes, the label wasn't really needed.

CQ is also very easy to use...

X 1000

Both products are very easy to use if you know how to use them.

If Cquartz is hard for you to use then Opticoat will be harder.

Actually a better way to put it is if you don't apply them correctly Opticoat will be harder to fix. But honestly the info is out here. CQ is simple. Just allow it to haze long enough just like you would a sealant. OC is very simple as well and doesn't take long. The key is just getting to know it which will be possible on your first application.
