You need to do better research, the Griots machine has far more failures.
Not recently, the PC has had far more failures as several people here have pointed out.

Flash, sausage fingers, you know there were threads all over the place about the griots breaking left and right when they first came out. No need to to do a search, it is common knowledge.
It is actually from making the tool work beyond the limits it was designed to do. It originated as a finishing sander for wood and now is just a polisher, a polisher is made to do very little defect removal.
Please do not call me him, I know of him and have spoke with him through pm's other than that do not converse with him.
Question....
Who cares how many Griots machines used to break?
We are talking about recently. And recently the PC had been having some issues with shafts.
Just saying....

Originals were made in good old USA.I really have not heard of any issues with PC's. I have an original 7424 I have used hard without a single issue, and I know my experience is not uncommon. The PC has a reputation for being bullet proof.

Can't answer that , but I bet quality inspection was in place to see that only quality parts go in. When you assemble in Mexico things are somewhat different and I speak from experience.I spent 2 yrs every 2nd wk down there. They are not as proud as we are about quality just as long as it's done. As I stated earlier in the post it appears that shaft is to hard, but again someone will get to the bottom of the problem and it will be corrected just don't know how many units were shipped that way.Was it just the assembly that was done in the states? Where are the actual parts being manufactured?
Curious to how many power tools you own and what brands.
PC's do not have the same track record as the GG machines. GG have not been made anywhere near as long as PC's and more of them have come up broken. PC makes great tools that can take a lot of abuse. I'm not saying this was user error, but it is entirely possible that it wasn't the machine, rather the user....
LOT,, I was a Maintenance Supervisor for 35 yrs in Major Hospital equipment Manufacturer.
Tools and equipment I know, and worked with them little longer before some of the guys here were born. Just facts my friend.
