My Christmas present, I have to choose 1, and the contenders are:

Leatherique Kit:
Pros - this is a "need" and a want. The cheapest of my 3 choices, but my leather (i think) interior is my last real eye sore in my 2001 and from what I've seen, this stuff works VERY well in restorations.

Cons - at $60, cheapest of my 3 and I could probably get this later in the year and avoid wife agro.

Clean Water Filter Kit:
Pros - My water is disgusting and I am forced to use rinseless wash techniques year round. I'd like to have the luxury again of a traditional wash without having to run around the car at breakneck speed to dry.

Cons - it's a "want" as I get by pretty well with my rinseless washes. The car looks just as good when it comes to the end product.

Porter Cable 7424xp:
Pros - well the obvious when it comes to finishing. I finally have my car at a point where the muscle of my rotary probably won't be needed as much.

Cons - I get by pretty well with my rotary, so this is not a need. Will need the usual new BP's etc.

Leatherique

While I've never used their products I hear allot of positive feedback here and elswhere.

Clean Water

Charcoal filter kits are available through most of the home centers in smaller units for individual lines as well as whole house filters that should clear up the problem.

In general, these style dual action polishers are smaller, lighter, and much more easy to maneuver. This should be part of every detail arsenal and no con's associated with it...

I say go for the water system.... might be a want but, seems you talked yourself out of leatherique so i would go for water system..

Thanks Bobby, but this is the problem, locally, I haven't been able to find anything smaller than the whole house units in the $350-$500 range. The small one source units are nowhere to be found.

The whole house units aren't cheap but they do the job.

Depending on the amount of sediment in the water something like this could easily work and work well.

Keep in mind that as the filter becomes very clogged the water volume and pressure declines indicating it needs to be replaced. There are several comments giving low rating rating due to the the filter becoming clogged....the filter's performing as designed and then again the operator is performing as created....

I'd mount this inline where it's accessible and near the water outlet if possible....:props:

A particle filter like that isn't going to do anything for dissolved minerals, which sounds like the OP's problem. Not that a particle filter is going to hurt.

Florida hard water - I'm assuming I would need something with the power to de-ionize, reverse osmosis etc.? that I haven't been able to find locally without going whole house.

Well Santa has loaded his sleigh and the water system was tossed into his bag. Had to grab it via PBMA/Amazon though as I had a coupon and was grabbing an xBox for the kids. I think I saw him toss what looked like a wheel brush and a couple of kwazars in there as well :)

Yes, I talked myself out of the Leather kit (for xmas anyway), and a DA will definitely make it into my arsenal sooner or later. So considering frequency of use, the system seemed to make the most sense, just hope it does the job.

I'll be sure to do a side by side review once it gets here, My water will most definitely put this to the test.

Well, too late now, you were aware of the CRSpotless system that AG also sells?

Yes, I was trying to keep the price close to $100, if I had the $$ for the CRS, I'd just install a whole house system. Portability is nice, but I have no need for it right now.

Yeah, that's what I figured from what you said earlier in the thread which is why I didn't mention it...never mind.

In theory, if I used this setup for a 2-3 canister series and used all softener cartridges, would it multiply their effect, or will the returns be minimal after the first?

Also, is water pressure negatively affected with each successive canister?
