Looking for a good wheel protectant spray for my bmw x3. Just washed and waxed the car and want to apply something to the wheels to protect it from brake dust and such.

Or even the new Meguiar's one AG posted moments ago?

I myself have used both the Poorboy's and DP brand wheel 'waxes' with success.

Neither are spray on but go on and come off easily.

The Optimum Opti-Coat is a great spray sealant that is very easy to use. I have been using this product on my wheels for a couple of years now and I love it.

Optimum Opti-Seal 8 oz. Free Bonus!

The DP Wheel Glaze, Poorboys Wheel Sealant anf the Wheel Wax are all great products to use on wheels.

I was weary of anything Armor all, but MANY BMW owners swear by it. I also plan on using the new Megs product as soon as its available.

My other consideration was C-quartz.

A good wheel protectant spray is the Holy Grail of the BMW world...

I would generally stay away from spray waxes...they have zero longevity on a wheel. Stick with polymers or the aforementioned cquartz/opti-coat. (opti-seal and opti-coat are 2 different products) The armour all works wonderfully at repelling dust, but is incredibly easy to remove via washing, salt spray etc.

If it is an option for you look into ceramic brake pads, i put some akebono ceramics on my bmw and my brake dust has reduced by 90% or more, but if you are under warranty i woudnt mess with them, i would be cautious about armorall durability try some opti seal or wheel wax

One of the first times I have't seen Collinite mentioned.

Been using on my wheels and love it. I don't collect dust like BMW's apparently do, but anytime anything has accumulated, a quick rinse and wipe usually gets the job done.

Used collinite several times on my BMW wheels...it has a VERY short life. BMWs release their weight in dust each year which makes them a difficult item to protect...waxes of any kind fail quickly.

Yes, the Armour All wheel protectant is good stuff. Stay far away from the Eagle One wheel protectant tho, very bad stuff. It turned my wife's wheels a white powdery color which was very hard to get off.

I drive a Mini which has the same brake dust problem as the BMW's and I too put a coat of Opti-Seal on mine. They are smooth black painted wheels, I don't know how it would do on textured wheels. It makes mine bead like crazy and clean up is a snap.

I use the Armour All stuff on my other cars since they get washed less. I wash the Mini so much that I think the AA stuff would get washed away quickly and be wasted.

I think the best bet for BMW (and Mini) owners are to replace the brakes with ceramic pads, problem mostly solved then.

I would take a good look at some of the new nano coatings. They provide a harder more durable coating and some withstand temperatures to 500F......

Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant is a great product which cut the brake dust in half for me...

I hope you try the New Meguiars Product...its getting ALOT of BUZZ and HYPE on the Meguiars Website. You just spray on and do nothing but let it dry! Take only seconds per wheel! I certaintly will be giving it a try!

I use two coats /12 hours apart of Rejex or Nu-finish on the Z4...brake dust comes off with a hosing...

If I use Nu Finish on my paint can I just hose off the dirt?

Rejex was developed for the military to keep bugs from sticking to helo rotors and jet fan blades - it is really slippery. It works perfect for this...also nu-finish at the corner drug store is almost an identical duplicate of Rejex acc to the inventor I talked to a while back. When I get a new BMW, the wheels come off and I do two coats 8-12 hours apart. Done for years...

I guess you mean opti-seal. However, Optimum OPTI-COAT is fantastic for minimizing brake dust but it is not a spray sealant

I switched to Akebono ceramics on my Audi while under warranty. Dealer was happy to install the pads which I bought from Rock Auto. They really cut down on brake dust.

BTW Pads and rotors are not covered under warranty(at least on Audi)

OOOPS! Sorry for the typo. It's been very busy and long days for the holidays. Opt-Seal is the correct item. :props:

How about Duragloss 501? Many people seems to like it on their wheels and it last pretty long.
