I thought I would play with my new bottle of CarPro Fixer Polish on my very soft, black paint,TransAm tonight.

The paint looks great from 3' away:

But using the camera flash, you can see some water spotting and light swirls/scratches:

For this little test I'm doing,I'm using my GTechniq self centering Polishing Pad:

And the Fixer:

For the Fixer, you don't need a healthy line of product for pick-up.No priming is needed either.I used (4) pea sized drops to get started:

I started spreading the Fixer using my PE14-2-150 on setting #1(600rpm's):

After the product was ready for polishing,I bumped the PE up to setting #4(1500rpm's):

3 section passes was all that was needed to work the product in.I experienced absolutely NO dusting.

I then grabbed one of my trusty SilverSurfer edgeless to remove any remaining polishing residue. Here is what I was rewarded with after wiping(with camera flash):

A lil' closer:

The Fixer Polish is advertised as using no fillers but since I wanted a true visual of what I had after polishing and because I was going to use a coating as my LSP,I sprayed the corrected section with CarPro's Eraser:

I wiped down the section from it's applied Eraser and this is what was left:

And real close:

Time to put a coat of OC2.0(NewVersion)on.I use the CarPro foam block and their blue suede MF to apply the OC2.0:

A couple of drops and a straight line dispense on the MF to spread across half the hood:

Starting the coating process:

After flashing,no high spots and it laid down and dried without a hitch:

I'll keep on it in-between details to finish the rest of the TransAm but I had a great time using/trying the Fixer. It finished flawless for me using a white pad a couple of section passes(on this vehicle).I was actually surprised I had (0) marring.
Also the New Version of OC2.0 is so darn user friendly,a caveman can do it ;)

have you tried with black finishing pads and increasing working speed?

congratulations on that hood! you work its awesome

PS : you really have 875 HP :O ?

First thanks for the review of the Fixer Polish. Great idea using the car pro foam block and suede towels to apply OC. I'm still hesitant to do an OC but getting closer and closer to giving it a go. Also fixer polish seems like it can save money from buying multiple compounds and polishes. I just like to see more people review it.

I have not,I didn't need to.This was my first attempt with Fixer and with the pad i used,I approved the results to my satisfaction

Yes it does at the motor,747RWHP ;)

that its a relly funny car ! congrats ! !

by the way , why you didnt use cquartz? im having my doubts against opti coat vs cquartz and other ceramic selants. what can yo tell about opticoat 2.0 , have you ever try cquartz?

Awesome Chris!! Excellent tutorial on how to get the lubricants working with Fixer before going to town as well!!! I too find it has impressive cut and finishing abilities.

I have been wanting to try some of this out, but it seems it works best at slow speeds on a Rotary. How do you think it would work on a DA at slower speeds? I just don't think the DA would be able to do much work at the speeds Fixer wants to be used at. Thoughts?

Man, now im really excited to use mine. By the way, the car looks awesome!

Wow nice job. I love the way that paint looks after.

747 RWHP! Is it Supercharged or Turbo'ed? Any track times?

Hey Chris did you ever coat your polished aluminum wheels on the T/A? I think you were going to go with OC or was it Cquartz?

If you did, what was the outcome?

Nice review on the fixer...thanks!

Haha Dan,
funny you remembered.I ended up coating them with C5.
I did coat one of my daily drivers with CQ and another with OC :)

Yeah don't usually hear about people coating raw aluminum, so it sparked my interest when you mentioned it a while back.

So you went with fFixer on the rotary and then straight to the sealant?
No Marring under halogens?
I've done a few soft paints and had to finish with the DA cuz it would so easily... Might need to check out the GTechniq
