WOW. I set limits and sold 26.......... I had a decent experience with LS. His rep may have set him up for failure.

Good for you DugDug!

How many did you offer, and how long does the offer last?

Have you completed any of the 26 sold? What exactly did you offer?

I offered 2 packages, deluxe and basic. Basic = wash wax $60, and deluxe wash wax + polish $120. I got 55% of that. My limit was 200.

Ive done 3 so far and have scheduled 3-4 more. They have 6 months to redeem them by availability only. Also $15 surcharge for trucks/suv paid to me directly upon completion ov vehicle.

I have noticed that at least in my area, the people who bought it tend to make more money and arent just looking for a cheap 1 time deal. On top of the 26 I sold I got a lot of calls from people who had questions before they bought the LS deal. Every one of those people I talked to ended up going through me directly. Ive done about 6 of those guys. Also, one of those calls came from a woman who wanted to give gift certs. So I printed off a few and she bought them directly from me....

wash wax with 60 may work but polish with 120 ...no thanks ,
when i start i did the first 2 months with 30-50%off than what i do now , but .....no more.
plus are not the clients i am looking for as long term.

i am glad it works for you.
:dblthumb2:

I sold over 3000 wash on these daily deal site and I will never do it again.....yes I received a check for about $30k but it is not worth it....
First, you degrade your service and quality....2nd, you will pay more payroll because of the extra vehicles...and 3rd, you will pay more for chemical and supplies......

Do not do it guy...the money and unit will temp you....but it is a bad idea...

Most ppl that buy these voucher will not come to you again unless you offer a deal....

I can see how this would leave a sour taste in your mouth

For me personally, I could never offer just a wash only. It takes me a good 2 hours just to do a wash

:autowash:

I think if you would've offered a wash-n-wax you would've had greater success

It works if you work it......

Exactly! That's how you make it work for you. The people who have had bad experiences kind of did it to themselves. If you already have a fantastic reputation, and are scheduled like crazy...then what's the point in offering a half off deal. You just don't need it.

My business is doing very well, but I'm still at the point where it doesn't hurt to get more customers in the door in the winter time. That's when I run these deals. It's a fantastic way to fill the winter gaps. I like the system...it works well.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned yet, (lots to read):xyxthumbs:
But any bad customers can be red flagged also. I have had some nasty people that have complained about STUPID things, very ungrateful in my opinion. So I called Groupon ( I know this is about Living Social but same thing) and let them know about it. Not sure what they do, but my rep told me they have no right complaining, they bought it, they should have read all the fine print, hopefully it blocks them form ever buying from me and maybe from any deal since I told them that the customer should never be allowed to buy any deal again.:nomore:
Hopefully it should weed out losers (by the way wealthy and cheap losers) from purchasing deals they have no right complaining about.

Hi all,

I'm not a pro. But the conversation is very interesting and all the different opinions seem to be educated ones.

I do think though that the mindset of the customer and the reasons that will choose a LS special is directly connected with the reasons any detailer might have, in order to initiate an LS special.

The customer might think : Would like to try the service since the price is good.

The detailed might think : I advertise the quality of my work and my business in an effort to get more clients.

But in my mind these are only assumptions and estimations, unless someone can get some organized feedback from that specific LS client base. Maybe in the form of a brief questionnaire. I let you figure out what the top 5 important questions are for your business and the specific service you re offering.

Then we have a pretty good idea what the clients think and based on that we can definitely judge better if it works for us or how we can make it works for us even better.

Just a thought.

I agree with you. Most the customers that come through with the LS coupons tell me that the price was "worth a try". Then, I end up with long time customers.

The thing that I feel most people who try LS do wrong...is that they offer something their regular customers would buy anyways. So when a regular customer sees the price at 50% off...they scoop up a coupon, and you lose out on money you would have otherwise received.

The trick is to offer something your regulars probably don't want. Most my customers get a full detail, or better. By offering a Wash & Wax, my regulars passed on the deal simply because they know it's less than what they want. Therefore, I kept the LS clients mainly to potentially new customers for myself.
