Hello,

I know to dry microfibers on low or no heat but how about the wash water. Can I use hot on that or do I have to use cold?

Drew

I have always used warm to hot water and have never had a problem. In my opinion, the hot water releases the built up gunk better than cold. In fact, I have been known to boil my MF's to breathe new life into them. I have never experienced any fiber melting. These towels are a lot tougher than we are led to believe. That being said, fabric softener is still a no no.

Thanks very much Ed that's what I have always done just wanted to make sure I was doing it right. I use Micro-Restore detergent and hot water and then dry on very low heat.

I have done that too!! I thought I was crazy!! lol

I always wash my microfiber with the hot setting and have never had issues. I realize that a lot of folks advise against this, and perhaps with some brands of MF this is really a big "no no." I use the rolled edged MF from AG, Cobra products, and [I believe] Viper MF from ProperAutoCare.

You can dry on med. heat.

I usually wash on cold and dry on low heat. But now I might have to try washing on warm water..

I wash with hot water, MF detergent and often let them soak. I add white vinegar every so often to the rinse cycle and double rinse if that is used. I air dry mine. I have boiled them before if they really lose their softness and vinegar does not help any.

Personally, I wash on hot and dry on low.

It's working for me and other than adding a bit of vinegar in the rinse I've been doing this for a while now...:props:

I add vinegar also when I am washing MFs. I tried hand washing for a while, but it gets tedious when you have lots of MFs waiting for you to wash lol

I wash on warm dry on low and add a little vinegar to the dounle rinse. I've always got good results.

What does the vinegar do? I've never done that.

I always keep my wax/sealant/LSP ones separate from the others, but I wash them all on hot, extra rinse, and dry on low.

Keeps them nice and soft :) I think it also does something else aside from that though.

Hm, I've been washing on cold, mainly cause that's what we do our laundry on. If I remember, I bump it up to warm.

I line dry my towels. I don't trust my dryer to not lint them up.

Vinegar can do a couple of things. Used in the rinse cycle, it helps get the excess soap out. I think it has something to do with softening the water. The reason people think it softens their towels is because leftover soap on the towel will make it feel stiff.

The other thing it can do is set the dye in the towel which helps with bleeding. When I get new towels, the first thing I do is wash them in cold water using vinegar instead of soap. Some towels are real bleeders, so it doesn't work all the time, but in most cases it does.

Get the white distilled vinegar. I use it for doing my regular laundry too. Just put it in the Fabric Softner dispenser. If you like using a Fabric Softner on your clothes, use dryer sheets instead.

I usually wash my towels in hot and rinse with cold. I use a MF detergent so I always do a second rinse to make sure everything is out of them. They come out fluffy everytime and ive had no problems with this method. If i use a towel that is realy dirty with wax/sealant or just stains on the MF I put them in a 5 gallon bucket with a few capfuls of MF detergent overnight to let them pre-soak.
