Is anyone a member of IDA(international detailers assoc) if so, what do you think of it? Is there any advantages to being a member? Whats your opinion?

Wondered about this too, would like to see some feedback. I'm sure it would look good on a website or business card.

Seems like their main goal is to get detailers to come together to fight water containment laws. It's the first thing they mention if the "Why Join" section.

Right, I thankfully don't have to worry about that where I live..(yet) but I also think it would look good on a bus card or website, lol..

True. But for me...that's kind of like the BBB logo. I was part of the BBB for a while, thinking it looked good. Come to find out...nobody cares, and it did nothing for me but take my money once a year cause of "dues".

Now a days...people in most cases go to the business with good feedback online. I work on that more than anything, cause it works.

I would say that probably 90% of my new customers come from what they've seen on the internet. That gets them in the door, THEN they would get my business card. At that point, they wouldn't even notice an IDA logo, nor would they care IMO.

If they got my business card another way...it was probably from a satisfied regular customer of mine spreading the good word. One friend saying "you need to go here", is enough to sway most consumer decisions.

In short, I would say the IDA logo on your card would be exactly what you said. It would just look cool. To me it would serve no real purpose on a marketing stand point unless the customer was schooled on the IDA, and they had any level of respect for the IDA. If not...it's just some letters.

:iagree: 100% Word of mouth or internet reviews have gotten us our business. It seems I remember hearing mentors say this in the beginning and I scuffed it off (word of mouth isnt enough!) ..... but it is SO true lol!

Yes! I felt the same way in the beginning. I blew some money on useless advertisements that did nothing for me.

Word of mouth has come to be my largest form of advertising. Only problem with that...is it takes quite a bit of time, and effort.
