Why? I'm not talking about us 'Geeks shopping there, I'm talking about the average person buying detailing products there...there is no way they are going to spring $150 for a polisher...I remember being in Pep Boys a year or two ago and two kids agonizing over cleaner waxes and they went for the $8 because the $12 one was just too expensive.

If you were referring to the other part of my remarks, if a non-'Geek did buy the G110 and MF system, they'd probably use 1/4 of the bottle on the hood, splatter it all over the winshield, weld big patches of it to the paint, then decide it was a waste of money and too much work. Isn't that where most of us were at some time in our past with our Sears orbital? Or was it only me?
 
Not in Alpharetta, GA. So far is it just the OP's store that apparently has the new products?
 
Retailers often roll out wash and wax planograms to warmer climates earlier than cold weather climates.

Some times they do them by region. Give 'em time.
 
My local AutoZone carries the M105/205 combo!

I'll try to check Wal Mart here within the next few days, it's warm enough by now for the "Detailing season" to be in full swing.
 
I had a similar experience recently. There's a local wholesale store near me...and they had bottles of Mirror Glaze products for $5. Some other stuff too. It was limited, but still...pretty cheap.

But retailers have many different planograms based on store size, market demographics, etc.

Somebody that used to work at wm was explaining this to me the other day.
 
Not really sure about the "renting of space" thing, for one good reason.

I know of a company that has been selling a hyper lubricant oil additive for over the last 17 years that kicks the crap out of any so called friction fighters.... But because it's American made and packaged in America , it's price us kinda high if u see it on the shelf. Wally world would never carry it because of these reasons. They tried to get the company to bottle it overseas for a cheaper price or lessen the active lubricants in it to cut price, but the company stuck to it's guns and said no way. They finally got it into all the major truck stops and Speedco ( big rig oil change place) and the stuff sells like hotcakes. Meijer stores picked it up about 2 years ago and is a great seller. So... Wally world finally caved in and is putting it on their shelves as we speak. It took years and years to convince them it's worth the higher price and proved it with sales elsewhere. They didn't come in and "rent" space....

No... That stuff is just Teflon crap. Stuff I am talking about is called MotorKote.

I am in no way associated with them.... Just a loyal user for more than 10 years and the stuff is worth every penny. I usually buy off their website or get it personally at Trucking trade shows. Check out their website...trust me... U won't be disappointed with it or their customer service.
 
I think the "renting" thing is probably just Wal-Mart using their muscle to improve their cash flow by taking merchandise on "consignment" and only paying the supplier when it moves off their shelves.

Just my guess. I'm still not holding my breath to see a G110 and the MF system on my local shelves, but of course I never expected to see that AutoGlym HD wax there, either, selling at 70% of what it cost to buy it here...that worked out for W-M, right? They only had to blow it out for what, $5? Because no one would pay $35 for a wax at Wal-Mart.
 
i have not seen the pro products here also even with the shelf rearanging, and it is true walmart "rents"(its in quotes for a reason) space on the shelfs, its same thing like the grocery store and their bread aisle, sure alot of stuff is brought in with wallys trucks, some product is brought in by regional vendors and stock shelves and all, thats why some products seem to be out for ever while some empty then next day there full. theres certain codes on the price label right above the upc to the left is some 2-3 letter abbreviations designating where it came from, WR means comes from wallys warehouse and if i recall correct the other letters mean vendors place product on shelfs and vendors drop off at the truck bays. dont know those codes though, source of that is from a wally employee i know because i asked him why some stuff took forever to restock yet some is always being restocked.
 
My WW had the autoglym wax and the finger pocket kinda things from autoglym.... Didn't sell at all, surprise, like u said... Who goes to WW to buy $35.00 wax? Haven't seen the surf city stuff here, but have seen 105/205 at Pep Boys around here. And almost the exact same price that AG sells it for. Also had the Meguiars squeeze dispensing bottles at Pep Boys for $1.25 each.
 
Walmart could be test marketing the new layouts in certain stores -- likely demographics based. They are always testing some new store layout and retailing concepts.

Walmart has a lot of stores would not likely invest in this kind of stock ($150 polisher) without test marketing them but then maybe they have. and this the result. There has never been an Surf City around here. They spent last year restocking back all their detailing stuff (and products throughout the store) after they went through the stock reduction (less SKU's) and got a lot of complaints.

Charlie, whenever you're up late tune your AM radio dial to "The big one" 700WLW and listen to The Truckin' Bozo show/America's Truckin' Network. They hail from Mason, Ohio and on a clear night can be heard as far south as Florida, and I've listened to them in the UP while fishing. Dale Sommers had the show for years at night on wlw, but is now on xm during the day as the real Bozo show. Dale's son Steve has the home(Ohio based) show now. Bubba Bo is the host when Steve isn't around and both do a fantastic job.

Couple Motorkote with a good Gulfcoast filter and you've got the makin's for a million miles. The old Franzt filter (toilet paper filter) was the basis for Gulfcoast filter. Both are still available, and are slightly different designs.

Take a gander and read the article about GCF's with the truck with over a 1,000,000 miles with only one oil change.

I saw that on their website along with a flex bag. Looks like web only. I believe that the Meguiars products will be in targeted locations the same as other products have been in the past. I have seen post in the past of Meguiars Christmas packs being marked down that never made it to other stores. I don't think this project will succeed but someone at Meguiars thinks differently and is willing to invest a ton of money and effort to give it a try. I would love to be the salesman that inked the deal to make this happen.
