As some of you know, I haven't been fond at all about using MF pads with the Flex 3401. Specifically, the Meguiars 5" cutting pads. I feel they're very grabby, severe balding in the middle of the pad, and do not give the results I'm looking for, generally speaking. In comes Optimum 6" MF cutting pads. I have to say that these work a lot better with the 3401 compared to the Meguiars pads, IME. I think the key is that optimum MF cutting pads use thicker foam(not as dense), which allows for more cushioning, which in turn will work better with the forced rotation. It's been recommended to use speed 3-4 with the 3401 and Meg's MF cutting pads, but with Optimum MF cutting pads, I cranked it up to 6, and they worked great. There is some balding in the middle, but when fluffed back up, they seem to be fine. I have only tried the cutting pad on my car. I've only used M101
with the pad. I don't know how other polishes may work/feel. I still need to do a lot more testing with the Optimum MF cutting pads to come to a accurate conclusion, but so far, they look promising with the 3401! :dblthumb2:
