Hi all, new to claying. I'm ready to give it a shot, I'll apply by hand for now. I am going to use it on a 2012 dark blue Volvo S60. The car is not in bad shape, so I am not looking for an agressive clay. Any recommendations for product -- clay and clay lubricant? Thanks as always for your suggestions...
Jim

Hmm I haven't tried stuff like blackfire's or anything, but if you're ever heading up to Canada, or have someone coming in from up there, get some Riccardo's. Definitely the best I've used (although I haven't used much; but I don't feel the need to change either ;) )

I really like the Blackfire clay bar and CG clay bar. I prefer Finish Karen 425 as clay lube.

Would like to see some pictures of the new Volvo. :dblthumb2:

your best bet is going to be to get the Meguiars Clay kit.

I sure hope your not talking about the OTC kit. Cause that sucks. The mothers kit is way better. The Griots clay is excellent. Picked it up from advance auto. The megs medium professional clay is great as well.

I'd love to...let me do that claying, polishing, and sealing first! Thank you for your reply...as well as the rest of the "gang". Keep em coming. Is the autogeek forum awesome or what!!

Sounds good! May I ask where you are located in NY?

I've used Mother's clay kit from Walmart, it's cost effective & works well.

I use Pinnacle clay and have always been pleased with the result. I use ONR as a lube, great stuff (ONR mixed as a lube). These two products have given me the results I've wanted.

Pinnacle Ultra-Poly for very lightweight stuff, Ricarrdo Yellow for most other situations. I was using CG Luber for a while but switched back to Optimum No Rinse diluted at the recommended ratio. Over the counter for me goes to Mothers first then Meguiar's. Just my opinion.

Where can the Ricarrdo yellow be found?

Sorry don't mean to hack the thread!

^ You can buy it in Canada - look for eShine. They won't be able to ship them to the US, though. On topic, the clay I like the most - more than my Optimum clay (same clay as Riccardo, I think) - has been Bilt Hamber Soft - and the only lube it needs is water. It's another clay that you can't get in the US, though.

Why did ya go away from Luber?

Love using the sonus clay and ONR as clay lube diluted. wirjs great and cheap.

Don't want to hijack here but a quick question since it's related. I am looking at getting some DP clay or Pinnacle XMT (yellow) for slightly neglected vehicles & Sonax Ultrafine for maintanance claying.
Is the DP or Pinnacle heavy enough for reasonable contamination? Will be using ONR as lube.
Will also be using a FK decon kit beforehand.

Thanks

Albany area, looks like about 90 min from you...good weather for working on the car in upstate NY this year! :props:

SATracker, is the Pinnacle clay the Poly Clay, or the XMT speed. I'm thinking of using the Poly clay (start with low aggessive) with the ONR, and wanted to see if you used that combo.

Also, I'm thinking of caving in and buying the Pinnacle Clay Lube just to stay in the same product line. Thanks for your input!:thankyousign:

To date my preferred clay lube is Dodo Juice Born Slippy.
A good value for a premium product given its dilution ratio.
