So yesterday I was at the Subaru body shop having them install my spoiler that was supposed to be done before I picked up the car but they ordered the wrong mounting hardware. So anyway i went yesterday and had them do it and was sitting in the body shop lobby. So one guy was sitting next to me and he looked aggravated they brought his car around..had him go look at it and he came back in and said nope not taking to many buffer marks LOL. So then the real horror came about 30min later. A guy pulled up in his silver outback or something and asked the one writer inside who does all the writeups and buisness end of the body shop about he parked the car at a hospital other day and parking garage had water leaking on it and couldnt get off now. So this guy is like some rubbing compound will fix that he goes in the body shop and to my surprise he comes out with those blue disposable shop rags with compound on it and one to wipe away. He proceeds to rub it on this guys hood and looks like he was trying to saw down a tree I was watching with my eyes WIDE open thinking OMG thats gonna look like hell. Then my car they almost washed it even after I had the lady at the desk tell them DO NOT wash..caught them just as they were about to pull it in bay to wash. Sure glad i did or they woulda ruined my freshly buffed perfect paint on my brand new car. Anyway I just found it amusing on the lack of know how to detail a car at a body shop.

What a nightmare. I would've been freaking out knowing my car was in their hands after witnessing those two events

So, how did it turn out?

spoiler turned out perfect..they did an excellent job painting it..almost zero orange peel and perfect match. there was some scratches on it from installing but they buffed right out when i got home..I am pleased. I wouldnt have been pleased if they washed it

Is it the standard STI spoiler or a different one?

I'm surprised you don't have signs in the windshield.

Telling them not to wash is usually not enough...

Yea it doesn't surprise me.

My friend wanted his car clean so badly during the winter time and I wasn't around at the time and told me he couldn't wait so he had one of our friends who is a dealership detailer do his car and OMG. He was flipping because of the amount of holograms in his paint after. I told him he should've waited. Now I got myself a correction job this summer :)

I usually am NEVER at the dealer so i never thought of having anything like that. If I ever go back i will make sure I put one real big on the dash

Op,no offense meant, but I found it difficult to get through your entire post. Please use punctuation and spell check. Thanks. Anyway,my younger brother worked at a crappy used car dealer for a few years and is self taught in the art of detailing, and thinks he does top notch work. The only tools in his arsenal are a Makita polisher, the same wool pd he has used for 5 plus years and some Wizzard compound. But, I can't tell him anything, he knows it all. This is how I assume most dealership detailers operate.
