Optimum Opti-Seal - New & Improved!

I'm not trying to argue with you. I'm in the wrong section. My question was about opti-coat I already ordered the opti-coat along with several other products from this site. I understand your not fond of Quantum...if I would have had a choice I wouldn't have bought it. I wasn't looking to puchase more. My real question was if the opti coat gave me the same scratch resistance that my car has had since new.

It's starting to get the light scratches and swirls so it's time to detail and protect. If this stuff takes 70 machine washes without showing scratches I will be extremely pleased!!

So you ran your car through 70 tunnel washes, and only at that point did you start to notice light scratches and swirls? I'm not sure even Opti-Coat would hold up to that, so I think you, me, and everyone else should switch to Quantum-Shield.

That's why I asked. Yes 70 machine washes and it's just showing fine scratches. My wifes 2011 Acura T/L is already completely covered in scratches and swirls. It's black and the Acura paint may be a little softer than my Chevy paint...but whatever has been on my car has been incredible. I've got a little auto body and paint experience I'm 50 years old and have had 25-30 cars and I have never seen anything like the protection I have had!! It has finally started to fail but we both know that amount of time and that many machine washes is pretty incredible. My reading on Opti-coat tells me it should be as good as what I have. By the way the reason I use the machine wash is serious back problems. I don't enjoy abusing my paint.

Does this not look like the same thing as opti-coat....or more like opti-guard because of the fast set up time??

The link I found says it's quantum...I noticed it doesn't say that once you get there...anyway it will be a couple weeks before I use the opti-coat on my car. I'll let you know how it works out. Have you used opti-coat? From what I've been reading it should give me the same scratch protection. They say it is harder than the factory clear coat.

The spray sealant that started it all has been improved!

Dr. Ghodoussi of Optimum Polymer Technologies has taken a forum-favorite, Opti-Seal, and injected more gloss enhancers and polymers into an already outstanding spray sealant.

The new & improved Opti-Seal offers greater slickness and protection!

Pick up a bottle and give it a try for yourself. :dblthumb2:

Ay ay ay...where are you going with this? Yes, Zaino Clear Seal was the first WOWA to make it to market--barely. All 3 of the original WOWA sealants came out in 2007, Z-CS, Opti-Seal, and Ultima Paint Guard Plus. They were joined this year by the Blackfire product (I don't think I missed any; I know Meguiar's and Duragloss have some similar product in other markets).

Waxes and sealants do need reapplication. But Optimum's coating (OptiCOAT) seems to last until manually removed. It doesn't wear off from washing or the elements. OptiSeal isn't claiming to be a permanent product... It's a sealant.

The point I am making, is that this product is not new and not a big deal because something similar has been on the market for a while.

There is no magic in any of this stuff, waxes, sealants, etc. The chemistry is very much the same. The all do a decent basic job.
I know everyone has preferences, some that they swear by. I, however, have bottles of stuff that all look the same on my two cars. ( polishes and compounds are not the same)

Take care

I know what your saying slimnib...as mentioned I have some auto body and paint experience. I'm telling you what ever is on my car is much different than anything I have ever seen. That's why I'm trying to get something similar. Now it didn't last 5 years...but did stand up to 18 months of what I call abuse. I'll let you know if the opti coat is close.

Perhaps you have lots of stuff that looks similar, and I agree, I do as well, but OOS has a very unique look. Its very glassy looking, the only thing I have that comes close is FK1000P which is much more work to apply.

You are correct. The product is not new. It was released in 2007. The thread is an announcement about a "new and improved formulation" that improved gloss and durability over the original.

While there is no "magic" to OptiSeal, you'd certainly be hard pressed to find a product that does so much with so little effort coming in at a great price. A single 8oz bottle will seal around 40 vehicles and only takes about 15-20 minutes to apply.

how does it compare to the other spray sealant like BlackFire wet diamond spray, the Carpro Reload or the NanoSkin Hydro express?
