sonax vs iron x vs mothers

None of these are really in the same category. They go from light to medium to heavy. All have there place.

If you want to include cleaning the tires with the same product, then for me it's Mothers All Wheel Cleaner, hands down. This would also hold true if you only wanted to use one product for both jobs.

However, the Mothers in combination with either of the other two products mentioned would be a one, two, punch for sure.

thanks for answering back because i didn't really know what i would need to clean brake dust off my car . i have mothers and it works well but i wanted to know if iron x and sonax were more aggressive and same for painted wheels

i was going to order apc or opc for the tire and wanted to get something good for the rims

Can i add the 4th choice?
TRIX but you gotta rinse really really well

That is true for sure! I thought I was overdoing it and it still left a ton of streaks, had to use some KAIO to clean it up.

Sonax seems ok, but I haven't had much better luck with that when compared to p21s gel.

Griot's works just as good as Sonax and is cheaper. Mothers is a good wheel and tire cleaner as well. IronX easily defeats both as far as a wheel cleaner for heavy brake dust. It's NOT needed to maintain wheels, though.

Sonax worth every penny I love that stuff... Big ups to Jason and Amy from sonax ..

I like Sonax's cleaning ability, but the fact that it doesn't foam (more messy when using the Daytona Speedmaster) kinda annoys me and lends me to using Griot's Heavy Duty wheel cleaner much more often. It's cheaper and works great, smells much better too.

HUGE reason I don't like Sonax.

Not a sonax fan at all here. Been using Megs Wheel Brightener with tons of success lately..

I use P21S Gel cleaner on clearcoated alloy wheels, on painted steel wheels I use an APC. Sonax works well but do not like the fact that is does not foam at all and Iron X smells horrible and the stink stays for a while on the ground, it does cut thru stuff though. Whatever you use make sure the wheels are wet, do not let the cleaner dry and do one wheel at a time to be safe.

As I clean my wheels weekly, I almost always only use car shampoo and a brush.
When something out of the ordinary sticks to my wheels, I use Sonax (up till now with great sucess). A bottle goes a loooooong way.
I only used CarPro IronX on my wheels one or two times and very carefuly because of the problems that can arise from it. For hard cleaning (ferrous particles - mainly coming from the breaking system) it is without par. Take notice of ZEE BEST's coment on it:

Another product that I use from time to time (on a need to basis) is CarPro TarX. I suppose the new TRIX (that I don't know) will replace this and IronX with the same excelent results.
Mothers I have never used.

This is the easiest question for wheels and tires, mothers. /thread
