Doesn't Blue Magic's patent expire this year? I'm down to my last bar of Riccardo

Whats the deal man?!?!?!?
 
I thought I read it had been extended. Riccardo is fine, but not any better than blue CM IMO. I traded a bunch of Riccardo for CM blue a year or 2 ago. They're both good.

How do they extend a patent? That is not the answer I wanted to hear

Clay magic. Its the blue bar of clay.they also have a red one that's medium duty.the blue is the best, it clans and doesn't mar to badly, but the red will take pretty much anything off the paint but leaves a ton of marring.

My questions are what is Blue Magic and where is the Riccardo?
 
Can someone explain what the deal with this is??? I'm confused. People are saying this clay is "patented"; but many manufacturers make clay. What's different about this clay? Isn't it like saying, Optimum made the first rinse less wash, so wouldn't anyone else not be able to make rinse less wash??? I don't get it.
 
Flash, I made no reference to Blue Magic. It is a chrome cleaning product.
 
I agree with Rich, Riccardo is great but not the be all end all...

You should also look into autowerks exclusives clay as it every bit as good as Riccardo

Based on some quick research over the Internet, 2013 is the time when Auto Wax's patents expire.

Clay Magic holds the original patent I believe. They've let others make their own for a fee up untill the patent expires (which was suppose to be 2012)

I don't know what the Blue Magic stuff is Richy keeps raving about. Must be good stuff though if he likes it so much

IIRC the patent expires sometime in December. But there were some other patents after that first one, so if they piggyback on the initial patent, it may be a few more years before the effective expiration.
 
I have a sample of the yellow Riccardo clay as well as some Dodo Juice clay (got it from PJ at Detail Fest), and they seem quite similar to me. Just sayin'.

Right, and you can't buy the Riccardo clay here, or the Dodo either...just sayin'.
 
Blue clay magic is $27 from auto magic. I have no problems with the stuff works great. I know that all the other companys go through auto magic to make there clay. Havent herd any thing on the whole patent. speaking of claying has any one tried the 3D speedie towel? suposed to be like clay but only in a towel...
 
I dont know if this is true or not but I just saw that Riccardo clay is now shipping to the US. Don't know if something happened recently - patent expired or what not, but hope it is true! If it is, let's get AG to start carrying them or an equivalent!
