So, like I posted a couple of days ago, I was out hunting locally for Aquawax and found a local place that carries all the Prima products. It was really odd to see "mail order" stuff just sitting on a shelf at an auto parts store. This was an independent store. I needed these products like I need a hole in the head, but I'm waiting for AG July 4th sale to order some stuff and prior to this I never considered buying Prima anything... So, I thought I would give some of them a shot since they were right in front of me. This is what I walked out with:

Four products: Mystique (car shampoo), Nourish (leather condition / protector), Slick (quick detailer), Hydro (spray wax / sealant). I had a chance to try all over them and thought I would post my thoughts on them.

Mystique: This is Primas car soap. Looking back, I have no idea what it cost, because I never asked. It smells really good a bit like lavender. They recommend two ounces for 4 gallons if I recall. However, I was going to using it in a foam cannon. I started out with about 2.5 ounces in a 30 ounce foam cannon bottle and mixed the rest with distilled water. I was using the method of foaming the car, rinsing, then going back to foam each panel to apply the soap to hand wash it. Then, I had a rinse bucket for the mitt. I've done this before with Chemical Guys soaps and it worked fine. The Mystique wasn't cutting it. Didn't make good foam and didn't seem to have any live in the soap. I added more soap to the bottle (about another 1.5 ounces) and only go a marginal improvement. I didn't really like the performance of this soap. Maybe because I was using it in a foam cannon , I don't know. However, once it's on the panel, soap is soap, and it just didn't impress me at all. Maybe I'm spoiled by the Chemical Guys soaps and their super concentrated formula? But, besides the great smell, this stuff just seemed like it didn't do much for me. It tended to feel not much slicker than water itself. This was the first product I used and was hoping I was going to like the others better.

Nourish: this is their leather product. It's lotion like and white in color. It has a leather smell to it. I wiped down my seats and door cars down with water and gave it a shot. This product I like. It goes on pretty easily, isn't too thick, and isn't greasy. Once applied, I let it dry for 10 minutes and buffed it down. Where many other products leave a matte finish, this actually has a bit of shine to it. However, it doesn't have a greasy feel to it at all. It says it has UV protection, which is good, because the car I used it on was a convertible. This product is more of a "conditioner" which many say is not necessary on today's leather. It doesn't really say it has protection other than UV. Im using it more as a dressing, as the black leather looks great once it's on there. It has just a hint of shine to it.

Slick: This is their quick detailer, and where the fun begins. I used this on my black sapphire metallic that was cleaned two days prior, and made a days worth of trips outside since. It wasn't dirty, but had a little dust on it. This product is super slick and a great QD, if not the best I've tried so far. The name is correct, it is very slick. It's a lot like the Optimum detailer, but just a little thinner and easier to spread. I really liked it. No streaks or fussiness, it just disappeared into the black paint. This product I will surely keep on hand. The bottles and sprayers are great also. The bottles are short and fat, and don't want to tip over every 3 seconds like the traditional tall bottles do. The sprayers don't drip and spray out mist or stream. The mist is perfect for larger areas like a hood and the stream is good for a small location. Also I was able to do the whole car with almost just one Cobra Jr. Usually, with other products, it takes more towels, as they get soaked with product and start to streak. It didn't happen with this. It left the surface perfect and glossy and a little goes a long way. If you like super slick QDs, than this product is for you.

Hydro: Hydro is a spray wax / sealant. It can be used after washing while the car is wet to dry it. Also, you can spray it on a dry panel. I decided to use it, after I cleaned up the car with the QD, as I figured the polymers would be similar or the same and this would be an easy way to add some protection. First let me tell you, I've tried other products like this that always ghost or haze later on black. This is no good at all. When it ghosts or hazes, people always say " your using too much product". Well I'm saying: "No, I'm not". I've tried these products many timesaver different ways and some of them just will present a fog the next day. Maybe because I'm working inside under bright fluorescent lights on a black surface, so I can see every little thing I notice it. Maybe it's my LSP. I don't know, but I know it's real and I know I'm not using too much. So what's Hydro like ? Hydro is awesome! I applied it with a sprayer of distilled water, misting the panel, then spraying one spray of the super concentrated Hydro over it. After that, I spread it with a Cobra Gold Jr towel. This stuff was great, super slick, super easy to work with, and super concentrated. And... It doesn't streak, haze, ghost, or sweat on black! Not in the least! Once it's buffed in you are left with a perfect glossy slick panel. The next day the car was still super slick and the paint was perfectly clear. This is the product I was looking for. It's perfect on black and easy to use. I was able to do almost the whole car with one towel and was getting no streaks at the end. It also doesnt streak or haze on the Clear Bra, which is where i always noticed these imperfections in the past. It's just a great product. This I will have on hand from now on! Here is a hood pic the next morning. Oddly enough it seems to repel dust, as the surface was also dust free:

Great mini-reviews!!

I've only used Hydro and Amigo from Prima. Love them both.

Thank you for the review,as now you have me interested in the Slick because my goto DS now currently is OPT Instant Detailer and I have yet to find a DS I like better.
As for the Mystique,it is the type of soap that doesn't foam the best but does have some sheeting properties to it.I noticed that it does have some nice lubricity to it.

I too like the Prima line....Prima Slick, Hydro, and Amigo I use often.

Nice tip of using distilled water in conjunction with Hydro...I'll try that. Thanks for the reviews.

If you like the Optimum detailer you'll love Slick. It's similar, just a bit thinner, so it spreads easier. I like them both. The Prima bottle is great as it never wants to tip over. I plan on trying all of their products eventually, but I already have LSPs on my shelf I haven't tried yet. I also found a local guy who stocks Zymol and can't wait to try their Glasur wax. People say that has amazing sheeting ability and good durability. I love finding local stuff, as I hate waiting for delivery. I'm impatient. Also, I read on another forum some guy spent a few hundred for some Zymol wax. UPS brings it and it's all melted liquid in this heat!
Also, using the DI water with Hydo worked great. The packaging says its very concentrated so I figured it would spread good that way and it did. What's Hydro Seal like? I'm guessing it's awesome. Also, in a week or so in going to pick up there tire dressing Nero. Amigo also looks amazing and I'll have to try it eventually

Hydro Seal is very good as well. I use a sprayer and apply as directed using tap water.

I agree, bottles (and sprayers) are top quality and low profile gives better stability.

Hello!
I'm a noob here looking for tips and ideas.
As a Prima fan, this thread caught my eye.
I have never used a foam cannon, but it looks like fun!
I just wanted to add that Prima has another shampoo, Hydro Wash, that the OP might like better.
It is the recommended soap for use with Hydro and Hydro Seal.
In fact, the manufacturer advises not to wash with Mystique before using Hydro as something in Mystique interferes with Hydro bonding with the paint.
I find that Hydro Wash makes a lot more bubbles than Mystique.

I want to learn more about the foam cannon and how to use a porter cable properly.
Nice forum!

Welcome to AGO. Hydro Wash is one of the few soaps that leaves nothing behind. That is no polymers or waxes to interfere with the bonding of your LSP.

Thanks for the welcome!
That makes sense about Hydro Wash. Thanks for the explanation.

I always look forward to hearing what others have to say about the products they buy, especially those I don't have!! :props:

These are mine and all are top performers! I love the Hydro-Seal, it lays down so easily and dries clear requiring almost no buffing!!

Glad you like PRIMA products! :props:

Great reviews. I love all the Prima products you mentioned. My thoughts on Mystique were the same as yours. I was pretty disappointed with it. Suds were so so and I found I had to keep adding more soap just to get through the wash.

Bobby, what's the difference between Hydro Seal and Epic? They seem to both be sealants, just the HS requires water for applications? They say Epic is a "synthetic wax" - isn't that basically a sealant? Would you use both or one? Prima seems to have a lot of LSP like products with some overlap. Also, what's Nero like? I got some of the Hydro on the screen of my IPhone yesterday by accident. A day later after a lot of use, the screen is uncommonly still super slick. The stuff seems to be the "slickest" stuff I've used yet.

That must have been PJ Auto where you collected the Prima. Thanks for shopping with them.

Right, Mystique is not going to impress you in a foam gun. It is not foamy. It is super-slick and lubrious. Like someone said, if you want foam; Hydro Wash will flood your driveway.

I think I might have gotten an old bottle or perhaps too much garage heat, as I am currently using the Mystique Wash and gets very little suds. The color of the fluid is clear and really has no desernable scent. It cleans well enough but I wonder if something is amiss ?? Was this how yours looked and worked ??

Nice reviews! :props:

PRIMA products are high quality and produce outstanding results.

PRIMA Hydro-Seal is an amazing water activated sealant that goes on so easily and it's results are stunning.

My PRIMA products:props:

I think that may have been the place. I believe it's a CarQuest. It's probably the only place anywhere near Telford PA that has the whole Prima line on the shelf. Just picked up another 32oz of Hydro.

I've used it since in a wash bucket (not in a foam gun) and it was fine. Not my favorite shampoo, but it was fine. Mine is kind of purple and I think the scent is lavender. I think I prefer the super foamy shampoos.

The Prima Hydro is the real jewel. I haven't tried Epic, because I already have PowerLock, BFWD, & WGDPS. I really like Hydro a lot. I'm also liking WG DG Spritz Sealant (the old one). Ill be getting more of both soon. Nero is nice too. Slick is an awesome QD. I'll have to pick up some HydroWash and give it a go.

Mystique starts out purple with a green chameleon tint. The green is not UV stable, so if it sees much sun, it will simply be purple. The scent is mojito.

I believe what you have is clear, but could you perhaps have re-used the bottle? I have an eight-year-old sample of Mystique in a clear bottle in my garage at work, and it is still purple with the correct smell. There is just too much material in the product for it to go clear and scentless. Even in abusive conditions.

Regardless, if you shoot me your address in a PM, will get you a fresh bottle.

Nick thank you for the kind offer ...

I wanted to make sure that I was not in anyway challenging the product but wanted to know if my version was valid. It does appear to exactly as youve described under heavier scrutiny on my part.

I usually squirt the soap directly into my Gilmour Foam Gun which is the quart size and prefilled with water. It appeared the soap was almost clear yet when I poured into a clear cup it does have a purple tint. I dont necessarily smell mojito but scent is very light and not unpleasing at all. I also dont find a scent to necessarily even be needed in soaps.

As I offered prior the cleaning power seemed ok with no issues, and left no residue. I only wondered if it should have more foam but understand polymer based soaps dont always have the thickest of suds. It appears well lubricated. Here's what I see after using the highest setting on the foam gun.

In closing I feel the soap does what is offered in that it cleans well, lubricates well enough, and leaves no residue. Coming off another soap with different suds is likely why I thought I noticed something different.
