I know there's a few people on AG who have subscribed to my videos on YT. I feel bad as I haven't had a chance to post any new ones in a long time. This weekend, my neighbour helped me out by allowing me to park a 911 in their garage until the customer could come get it as I was working on a Vette at the time and really didn't want to leave the Porsche outside. As a token of my appreciation, I washed their Lexus for them. You may remember the Lexus as the thread just got revived last week. If you don't, here it is:

Anyway, as I was washing it, I was so very impressed by how the water was sheeting off of it (a year after coating it with OG), that I thought I would shoot a short video documenting its performance. No fancy filmwork here people, just me holding the iphone in one hand and spraying it down with the other, but, I think it still makes a very strong point. Check it out. Your comments are always welcomed!

Wow, that is very impressive!!

Thanks Mark! Every single detail I've done this year has had a coating of one type or another applied to it. For me, if you're gonna put that much work into perfecting the paint, why not protect it with the best product(s) you can?

Richy - any difference between OG and OC2 in terms of protection?

From what I've been told: No. Just the faster cure time and the OG is usually priced better. Once cured, they're both the same as far as protection goes. Perhaps Chris can confirm, but that has been my understanding.

Nice Richy. I have been having the same results on vehicles I have applied OG to. The stuff is indeed the real deal!

wow, impressive indeed. How often can you re-coat w/ the OG?

There is no need to re-coat it per se. If after 5 or more years you see it's not sheeting water like it once was, well, maybe then. What is more likely to be the case is that you will still get some light marring, scratches, paint chips, etc that dictate that the panel gets compounded or polished causing the removal of the product. You would re-coat that panel at the time. FWIW, I have CQ on my Lincoln and have had it for 1.5 years. I want to put another layer on it after doing an IX wash and clay. I do have a paint scratch repair to do as well. Just no bloody time to do it! (I guess that's a good thing as I've been busy).

Good stuff man! Did you ever use any other product on it within the last year?!?!? Super impressive and thanx for sharing the vid :dblthumb2:

Thanks for the respond Richy.
You're welcome. :)

It's my next-door neighbour's car, so I can assure you that nothing else has been added to it. He's come a long way in the 10 years I've lived next to him. He now uses a leaf blower to dry it off and (for the most part) good wash techniques. Thanks for the feedback!

I am really impressed how the finish is still being protected by Opti-Guard especially one full year later. It looks like these new products live up to their claim! :props:

Bobby, they sure do and this is the perfect test vehicle as it has only been washed since then and that's it. I've had CQ on my Lincoln for 1.5 years, but I ONR wash it all the time and often follow that up with AW, FK425, ReLoad or something similar to get the smooth feel. I've got 3 more cars to post that I've used OG on:
Cobra replica
911 Porsche
Z06 Corvette.
All black. All stunning with OG. The Corvette owner called me the next day saying he got caught in the rain and was RAVING about how it was dry afterward with zero water spotting at all.
