Optimum MF Pads

View attachment 14297

This is my second Optimum MF compound pad. Barely used this one as you see the fibers are in good shape. But can you see the indent in the middle? I think this one will probably fail shortly as well. Time to try a different brand. Any recommendations?

Meg's or über pads.

If you don't have access to an air compressor, at LEAST have a soft nylon brush, and use it on the pad every other panel. Anytime the compound or polish gets built up to an epic level you are looking at possible pad failure. Remember, unlike foam, microfiber only has a limited amount of space for the product to "sink" into.

The DA came with a 5" bp, these are 5.25" pads. And I do have a compressor, I did blow them out. This one saw a little action at 5-6, but not much. Maybe 1 section pass.

You need to reduce the heat transfer to the pad. You can do that by using our backing plate, staying under 5000 OPM and changing the pad every couple of panels to allow it to cool. You may also only add product to the outer edge after priming because products migrate to the center with a DA...depending on what products you use, they may be adding to the heat build up. AIO products high in mineral spirit content and polishes with oils can contribute.

We suggest our respective Hyper Polishes, our backing plate, and staying under 5000 OPM.

Last night I tried my new Hyper Compund/ MF cutting pad combo. I use a PC 7424. The HC worked great no issues, it removed any defects from the paint on my 03 Avlanche. No dusting easy to wipe off. But... the sprayer on the HC is not right. It only spryed out a stream pattern. When I was trying to adjust the sprayer, it would spray 12 feet away. So I had to learn to do a light squeeze of the triger and "dribble" the compund onto the paint.
I saw no break down of the pad as the OP has.
I will be needing a different DA, cause my PC would only turn the MFpad at setting 5 and no downward pressure . I can only imagine how easy this system can work with a serious DA/rotory machine.

Great news!
Good product with excellent results. Gotta keep the rpms down on a rotary, but kicks butt.

Remove the trigger and pump clean water through it, then replace. Shake bottle vigorously throughout the detail. Chris advises to pull the trigger sharply rather than a gentle pull .

The sprayers aren't great but that is definitely not normal. Both of my bottles (OHC and OHP) spray well in a spray pattern.

I'm sure Chris will have something to say to help you :)

the HC bottle I used is brand new.
I'll rinse the trigger tonight and try it again.

If cleaning the tube and sprayer doesn't work out, then Chris has a link to that particular sprayer. Don't forget to shake the product well and often.

Our new factory ship sprayer for Hyper Compound is a Tolco #320. They are widely available and work great. The bottle choices are very broad.

the spray on my bottle works better now. My next question is, how much product is needed for a 20" x 20" area? When I sprayed the compund on a pannel, it ended up being about 5-6" area of product.
My gut feeling is that this is too much.
