Most regretted detailing product purchase

:iagree:

XMT 360. really think I followed the instructions. I liked the buff until it disappears idea. So a very little bit on the pad, and I buffed. And buffed. And then buffed some more. And ratcheted up the da to more power from Scotty, and buffed some more. After awhile I gave up, shut it down, wiped away the still smear able thin coat of 360, grabbed the DG 501, and took care of business.

It sounds like you used too much. XMT 360 essentially melts into the paint after 6-7 passes.

Less is actually more with this product.

You have 3 cars (two of them 2013s) and don't have the means to get a buffer? For half the price you would pay someone once to detail one of them correctly, you could buy all the stuff and do it yourself.

You got me on that one. Can't argue with you there. I guess I should clarify that I don't own a house to store all the equipment and for as many times as I'd use the buffer, it just wouldn't seem cost effective to me. Yet, with all the previous comments to me on this thread, PERHAPS it makes sense to do so. Anyone recommend a fairly decent DA? -Ed

You can pick up one from harbor freight for 50 bucks - grab a 5" (buff&shine or meguiar's come to mind) ~$15-20 backing plate to use with 5.5" foam pads and you are good to go

I regret the day I discovered Autogeek. My bank account hasn't been the same since.

This website is not good for my pockets...and it doesn't help the fact I'm OCD about my cars.

Due to this thread existing, I have no regrets. Thanks guys!

+1.

Thanks for everyone posting on this thread, gives me a list of things to be cautious about before I click the "add to cart" button lol.

mothers back to black, and Dr. Color paint chip or whatever it's called

Without a doubt Meguiars Water Magnet...I bought two of them based on recommendations and great reviews...they didn't perform for me as I thought they would...I had two of them and just left them at the local car wash for someone to have. They were just horrible IMO. I love most of meguiars products...but this one just disappointed me to no end. The absorber is my go to drying towel...it's amazing .

mostly tire dressings that don't last
a cheap elastomeric sponge
meg NXT

As others have mentioned - Turtle Wax Ice (Ver 1).

I'm not sure if the new version is any better.

GG window cleaner - streaks
GG paint glaze - thought I wood have a use for it, but now realizing that I probably never will.

Wheel brushes after wheel brushes. All the Geeks need to get together and design the perfect Bomb proof do all wheel brush.

Idk wasn't a fan. Yeah it applies easily but the look just wasnt what it's hyped up to be. And it attracts dust like no tomorrow.

Oh, damn, sorry it didnt get that look you desired, bummer! I was curious only because eithe rpeople love or hate fuzion, there's no in between, i like hearing peoples beef with it! I hear ya on the dust though! It's the only negative for me!

We'll design it out of kevlar, it'll look like Jeremy Renner in Hurt Locker:dblthumb2:

I regret a lot of my CG purchases, most of my stuff collect dust. They are really a hit or miss, in the end there are far superior alternatives. I probably will end up give most of the stuff away
