Most regretted detailing product purchase

No sir, I haven't even looked at it since I threw it on the shelf. I'm too irritated with it, ( costing $410) to hold it again, right away. Trusty old 3401 is the go to workhorse. This was only the 2nd job for the XFE. Did yours do the walking? It was like an invisible force was trying to push the machine out of my grip, with a heavy force behind it. Never experienced that before with the pad flat on the flat panel.

The new Flex FE 7, or whatever it's called. POS didn't even make it through a mid 2000s Honda hood that was pulled from a junkyard. Guy replaced his damaged hood with this one, severely oxidized. Did fine on the 1st half of the hood. Started the 2nd 1/2 & upon starting the machine, black specks flew out of the housing. So I stop, wipe up the mess, & try again. Speed 5, Menzerna SG400 & LC Thin Pro pads. Happened again. Machine was warm, so I let it cool some. Don't really have time for that, but shame on me, I left my 3401 at home. I was just doing a hood, for crying out loud. Once it cooled some, I completed 2 more section passes without incident. Once I got up by the cowl, the machine started walking, hard. Totally flat, I had to physically hold it from walking. Shut it off, changed pads & went back at it. Same results. F this pos, I went home & grabbed the 3401 to finish what light weight couldn't handle.

That's a bummer man.

You mention black specks. Does the backing plate rub against a rubber shroud at all?

The Rupes machines have an "anti-spin" shroud. After some use, or cleaning the shroud/plate needs to be regreased.

I chewed up a shroud on my Rupes last year after I cleaned it. I couldn't get pads to spin until the shroud wore away.

I've since replaced, and greased it. It runs beautifully now!

Just a thought. Keep this in mind of you ever get a Rupes or Boss.

Mine has the black specks, walking and a clunking sound. I have a total of about 30 minutes on it before it all started to happen. I had money to make so I gave up on it. I plan to call tomorrow and ask if other machines have been returned for the same issue.

Car Pro Reload.

Used it on both vehicles and for the first time ever I got water spots after being in rain. Never had a problem with them nor had to use a chemical to remove them. Not the case with reload. Had to wipe both vehicles with an mix of vinegar and water to clean them up. Never again.

Without a doubt these 4 cans of Scotchgard Auto Foaming Fabric & Carpet Cleaner are my most regrettable purchase in recent times.

I bought them online from walmort and somehow made a the bad mistake of choosing 4 of these and 1 can of Scotchgard Fabric Protectant. The 1 can of protectant I'm happy with, but this perticular foaming cleaner + fabric protectant works like absolute junk and I'll probably never use these 3 brand new cans + 1 nearly full can. It bugs my inner cheapo to see these full cans sitting on my shelf knowing I could've chosen something useful instead. Lol.

Honorable mention: Carpro Reload. This stuff is way overrated. I applied it onto my car and not even a month later my paint felt like sandpaper. [I tested it twice and both times it didn't protect for even a month] Zilch actual protection from this so called spray sealant.

Carpro Essence has yet to wow me even slightly as well, but I'm still giving that a chance and won't close the case quite yet. I think it should bare fruit in the right conditions.

Poorboys black hole didn't work at all. I tried three times with different application and applicators. Also, tuf shine tire coat. It is nice product for cars probably which are garaged parked and driving on the smooth roads. In my real world with bumpy drive and parked outside lasts up to 30 days, mostly tires black because they just clean/ed :(

Agree re: PB Black Hole, did nothing for my dark grey car.

I just did a dry run with the fxc, or whatever, & it shows no sign of backing plate rubbing the shroud. Hand turned & powered it with no pad. As I'm handling the machine, something small is bouncing around inside it. I couldn't hear it knocking around over the machine running. Anybody else have that with theirs?

Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer used to be my favorite, however they must have changed the formula because every new bottle I've tried to buy smells like rancid vinegar. Sad face.

Chemical Guys VRP. Such a waste of money on my part. Runs down my panels during rain

They had a bad batch. Call the 1-800 number and if you send in yours. They'll ship you a new one.

I've experienced the same problem and have moved onto Mothers Revision Glass & Surface Cleaner. It works alot like QID in that it can be used to wipedown woodgrain consoles, navigation screens, instrument panels, etc. It's a great glass cleaner to boot. You're welcome.

Unfortunately the replacements still smell the same.. At least mine did.

I'd try again. I too bought the bad batch. Ive bought quite a bit this year. And so far haven't got a bad one for a long time. And don't plan on it.

Yeah, snatched a bottle of this the other day...oops. Likely will sit on shelf until ultimately trashed. Nasty stuff.

Mine didn't....I emailed them pics of the bad bottle...and they sent me a new one....although now I've switched to Natural Shine

I also sent them a pics of the front and back of my original bottle and they sent me a replacement that smells similar, I've had numerous people complain about the scent and I've even been told to never use it again. Lol.

That 1st small bottle was the very 1st time I've ever tried QID, so unfortunately I've never known what it's supposed to smell like, all I know is no one likes the smell of this stuff and if it smells anything remotely to what my 2 bottles smell like I don't want anymore of it.

It could be worse, at least it doesn't smell as bad as Reload. That stuff brings back memories of my grandmas version of "Raid" from back in the days. Lol.

I wonder if PB have the same unsatisfied purchase policy refund as Mothers, it just purely waste of $18 :( nothing to cry about but I would rather buy m205 32oz and polished up swirls.

Meguiar's NXT. Too much staining for the $$$.
And, Collinite. Any bottle of wax you have to soften with hot water softens in the sun on black paint and SUCKS DIRT UP!! No more coating over my DG for me. LOL.

2 gallons of Meguiars Last Touch Spray Detailer (On sale) - not because it's a bad product, but I realized it was overkill with other things I already had on the shelf.
