I give up detailing cars GOOD BYE

a lot of you guys have a pc or orbital polisher i have to do everything by hand the sun wasn't out at all yesterday it looked like it was going to rain

What products were you trying to use? How were you attempting to apply them?

using a applicator pad for the turtle wax polishing compound,it wouldn't spread easily so i said screw it. and began to polish it and barely notice any difference. so then i said f it am not going to add the wax. i don't care and threw in the towel.

Now everything makes sense!

I think you need to spend a little more time on this site, hard to get anything good to happen by hand (without a machine), and it's hard to get anything good to happen with Turtle Wax polishing compound, period. Take a little time to understand the basics and perhaps try some clay and a good OTC cleaner wax or at least something that you have a chance of working by hand, like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound or Ultimate Polish, before going to your (Turtle) wax.

Bye!! :hotrod2:

Detailing can be frustrating for sure. But that's something we all have to deal with. Maybe take a break, refocus and give it another try??

Setec said what I was thinking. Invest in some quality products and detailing will be much easier.

Do some searching for products and then figure out what would suit you best.

Try getting your pad wet first, then applying TWRC as thin as possible

If detailing was easy everyone would succeed

I woke up this morning and had planned to detaill my car since the weather was going to be nice so i thought. the sun wouldn't budge at all i was better off washing it yesterday in the cold weather. I was going to wash, polish and then wax Everything sucked i wanted to apply polishing compound and when i didnt it wasnt aplying easily then after i polished the car i didn't notice much improvement either. Which i why i said f putting wax i give up ill just keep the interior clean and that's all :nomore:

This is why so many marriages fail these days, things get rough and people give up. Marriage takes work, detailing cars takes less work...

You can't quit something that you never really started hand.
Make a plan, set some realistic goals, and start from the bottom. I realize that you've been around for a minute, but Rome wasn't built in a day.

There have been numerous forum member who started with absolutly nothing but determination, otc products, and gumption.

Get with the heros, or get with the zeros...nothing beats a failure but a try. :dblthumb2:

To detail a car right, which is, to do the least work and have the least frustration and get the best results, you need to do the proper steps.
In addition, you need the right products.

You need to wash and clay before polishing. Did you clay first? You say that the polish wouldn't spread easily. Was it dried out? Polish can dry out even in a can. You need to add a little water sometimes, or at least use a damp cloth.

It takes about an hour and a half to polish and wax a hood by hand. It is unlikely you could finish a whole car in a day by hand. That is why they made polishers, because polishing is that tedious.
Were you trying to polish out swirls or scratches? Polishing out swirls or scratches can take a long time by hand, so results are not readily apparent.

Polishing by hand takes a long time, so by hand, you should do it in stages. You don't NEED to polish to protect your paint. You just need to wash, clay and wax. Polish when you have time.
If polishing by hand takes too long for you, buy a buffer.
Of course, you also need to protect the rubber, vinyl and plastic.

If you don't like to wax, Maybe Opti Coat is in your future...

Winter is upon us. Give it a coat of cleaner wax and consider detailing in Spring.

I have read the vast majority of your post and comments on other post and I get 2 things from you your short on money and short on patients.

I suggest that you stop spending money for a while and save to buy a detailing kit that has all the stuff needed start with an exterior kit then buy an interior kit. I know we live in a I want it now world but you need to be realistic it takes time to acquire all the right tools and all the right techniques.

The first time I polished a car it took me 3 times to get it right with a porter cable. I never gave up and worked hard now I make money detailing others card to pay for my addiction of new products and tools.

Like every one else said its hard work.

Are you talking about the interior or exterior? I haven't got any exterior products to protect the rubber, vinyl and plastic besides 303 aero protectant

303 Aerospace protectant is an excellent choice for exterior. I use it myself for the exterior.

Very true. No body said it would be easy or a breeze or will not take a huge chunk of your time (depending on the finish you are trying to restore/achieve). Real reflection and results require dedicated time and hard work. Detailing and paint correction isnt for everyone.
