Hit a Biker today, is it that bad ?

So guys, today I had a little accident and hit a biker, I was taking a left turn to enter a garage on the opposite side of the street and suddenly a biker appeared on my side, I couldn't see him on my mirror, so I hit him...

Fortunately he was ok, nothing hurt or scratched on him, I called the cops, did all the legal procedure and went with him right after that to pay to get his bike fixed.... $110 cost.... It was a relief as it could have gotten much worse both financially and legally in case the guy was hurt....

But now I need to take care from my ride.... here are some pictures from the collision and I know a lot of guys here work or worked on Auto body Shops...

What do you guys think ? Is it easily repairable ? Will it need to repaint the entire door or just spot repair with some paintless dent repair do the job ?

I'm glad nobody was injured or worse in this accident. You definitely need a body shop and not a PDR guy. You definitely have the more costly repair to do on your car. Bikes can be hard to see all the time out there on the roads. Hopefully this accident will create a heightened awareness of bikers that are out there.

Oh boy.... at least it's just money, right ?

This type of accident happens all the time... here in Sao Paulo we have an incredible large fleet from bikers working to bring stuff from one side to another, because it would be just impossible to meet deadlines by car..... but these guys are so damn reckless that one very little flaw like the one I did ends up usually pretty bad.... 2 bikers die everyday here in Sao Paulo.

I already have avoided many situations like that, almost everyday more than once a day. I was even talking about this type of situation to my girlfriend 2 days ago when a biker was driving on my side with a weak bike on a 75mph road and his bike probably couldn't go any faster than that. So I told my girlfriend how this type of situation was very dangerous because many times bikers put themselves on the side of a car, so close that the driver can barely or won't see the biker at all.
 
Wow man thank goodness you and the biker are in good health. I hope your body shop experience won't be as bad as the others that speak about it on ag forums lol. Good luck man and I feel your pain 100%

You know guys, I tried to sell my detailing services to the cops and to the guy from the bike.... lol.... he even told he wold have some clients to recommend me.... '=]

Glad no one was hurt...I would say the door, rocker, and rear quarter are going to need to be painted if you want it done right. That is the rear quarter that has the paint scraped off the corner right??

What you see damaged is actually the driver door and a little on the front left side panel.

Ok...guess I was looking at it backwards. The rocker panel does have damage also right?? I'm sure they can just paint that little part of the fender...but your going to be able to see it...
I would think they would want to replace the door skin and trim and repair and refinish the fender and rocker panel...just my opinion but I do have some auto body experience.
 
Yes, but I don't think it was pierced....

It would be really sad if it was needed to remove the door skin... because I really think there would be a huge chance for the service to be low quality.... I'll check how much a new door costs if that's the case...

I really won't care much if the pierced part comes less than perfect in case someone attempts to work only on that spot doing some magic stuff, but it's better than risky having an entire panel looking like it was destroyed....

They can fix the whole. Depends on how good the body man is. The preferred method would be to replace the door skin. A used door might be reasonable...new would be pretty pricey. They can weld some sheet metal over the hole and finish it and as long as the guy is good it should turn out pretty good.

I just cant believe how much damage a bike can do. we are talking about a bicycle , right? to put a hole in the door like that , my goodness, how fast was he going?

LoL.... no man, it was actually a motorcycle.

But to tell you the truth a bicycle actually did something worst to my brother's car last year.....

He was carrying something piercing and heavy made of metal..... and my brother ran over this piece of metal..... it almost teared his entire door
 
Just a question...You were making a left? The damage is on the left side of your car? How'd he (the bike rider) hit you?

From ONLY what I wrote above, it seems that "He" was at fault.

Just glad no one was injured...
