Meguiars, Optimum & CarPro vs My Mazda 3

Very nice write-up Nick! I enjoyed every word of it. Your 3 looks stunning now!!! The shine is brilliant and the gloss is miles deep. GREAT WORK!!!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks!

Excellent work, car looks great, looks brand new and a great write up and step by step review. Thanks for your time in doing so, much appreciated.:dblthumb2:
What do you wash the car with after applying that finish to maintain it.

I washed it last weekend with Wolfgang Auto Bathe and applied a quick coat of CarPro Reload. :props:

Job well done Nick. Congrats on the new ride. Zoom Zoom

Thanks Rich!

Great write up Nick and I like your car washing secret. The new 3i looks good now.

Time to fire up the chainsaw and remove those trees at home.

Great idea Mike. :xyxthumbs:

Congrats on the new ride, are some rims in its future?

Nooooooooooooo not with this one; I'm just going to drive it. ;)

Congratulations on the car. Thank you for the write up and product list.

Congratulations on your new ride, Nick. Enjoy it.

Great write-up. Thanks.

Rick

Thanks fellas!

Everything looks pretty glossy from here! :props:

When & where did u use the 1z Pre-Cleaner - saw it in your product list but not in the detailing description? Between the P21s & Iron X decon steps, didn't know where the 1Z fit in or what it's going to accomplish that the other two decon products hadn't.

I used the 1Z Anti-Insekt Pre-Cleaner for the bugs on the front end; it works better than P21S Total Auto Wash in that regard.

Good luck with the new ride. Looks great.

looks great! congrats on the new ride.

Thanks!

You really whipped that thing into shape, looks great! Another mazda owner on AGO now, I'm sure you'll love it. Can't believe the rims were in that condition though, even off of a used lot.

I actually drove the car for a couple weeks before washing it so the dirty wheels were my fault. :nomore:

Hey Nick, still waiting for an answer about the 1Z product?

Sometimes it takes more than a couple hours to respond. Patience, please. :D

Nick, can CarPro Cquartz UK Edition hide swirls?

No. CarPro Cquartz UK needs to be applied to paint that's free of any defects (swirls, water spots, etc).

Nice turn around Nick!!!

Congrats on the new ride, and a great job on the paint and review.

Congrats and Zoom-Zoom!

Very nice!

Thanks!

Nick as usual awesome work and beautiful end result :xyxthumbs:
Big congratulations on the new car, but sorry to see the usual dealer treatment.
I am sure that one day you will have that BMW you desire and hopefully the DISO can be avoided.

Thanks for sharing......

You betcha Buddy; I'll have that BMW some day. ;)

Nick, its mouth watering ;)

I agree! :hungry:

I received a PM asking this question...

Hello in your thread Meguiars, Optimum & CarPro vs My Mazda 3 have you polished headlights and coated them with cquartz ? or you didn't because it looks awesome so clear and reflective

The headlights on my Mazda were pretty dull so after polishing them I applied a coat of the new Optimum Opti-Lens coating....coming soon to Autogeek.net :dblthumb2:

Nice job, pal! What speed did you use with the MF cutting discs? What did you use to clean the tires?

Hey Mark!

I used speed 4 on the 3rd Gen Griot's Garage 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher. :dblthumb2:

I actually used P21S Total Auto Wash to clean the tires and it worked quite well.

**Update**

Cquartz UK Edition is holding up well. I washed the car last week and applied a coat of RELOAD which has definitely taken the water sheeting/beading over the top.

Here is a picture I took one morning after a heavy rain storm.

Great Job Nick! Car looks better now than it did rolling off the assembly line!!!

Wow that looks 10 times better than any brand new car at the dealership. Just look how beautiful that looks. Amazing work Nick. Great write up. How much does that UK edition goes for, if you don't mind me asking? I have a 2006 Dodge Charger Cool Vanilla and I am thinking in doing something like that to my car. Don't get me wrong, my car is always clean and shiny but I want to go the extra mile! Is that wrong? :P

Quality work Nick. Very precise selection of products, for a prestine glossy outcome. Congrats on your new ride!

Nick, incredible results and congrats on the new ride! It was nice to meet you briefly when I stopped by AG a couple weeks ago....in my new to me BMW 335i. Please don't misinterpret...had I known, I would have invited you to take the keys and go for a spin (or, just start detailing)!!

With the fantastic job you do at AG there is no doubt in my mind you'll have one sooner than you think! Incredible work...I'm still learning and loving every minute of it.

Oops, forgot my question. Possibly an obvious newb question, but can a more traditional wax be applied over Cquartz, or would that be...Ummm...pointless?

Nick guess I'm late comming to the party missed this thread. Awesome job looks great BUT the 24ct QUESTION is; Does it have air conditioning?

BTW you left lots of life in that Honda with 200K on it.

Just read your Hydo2 which lead me to this.

Nice car Nick. Great job whipping it into perfect shape. I like all the items you used ,too.

Great color, too.

So this Cquartz is like sort of maintenance free protection, right? So you won't be waxing , just using reload?

This year I'm trying 4* sealant and Vanilla Ice every 3 or 4 weeks. maybe I should consider this next year.

Thanks Nick

Larry

If you want to "set it and forget it" then Cquartz UK Edition is definitely worth looking into.

As a matter of fact it is on sale right now - Cquartz UK Edition 30 ml. Kit w/ Reload

Next time you're up here I'm going to take you up on that offer!

Oops, forgot my question. Possibly an obvious newb question, but can a more traditional wax be applied over Cquartz, or would that be...Ummm...pointless?

You *can* but it's not really going to be beneficial. Most waxes/sealants have a difficult time bonding to paint coatings.

BTW you left lots of life in that Honda with 200K on it.

Yes it does indeed have air conditioning but I don't expect to use it that often (I prefer the fresh air :) )

The Honda still had plenty of life left in it for sure. The only reason I got rid of it is because the clutch went out on me (again).

Just read your Hydo2 which lead me to this.

Larry,

That is correct; Cquartz UK Edition only needs to be maintained with RELOAD (to amp up gloss, slickness and water sheeting over time).

Next time you're up here I'm going to take you up on that offer!

Nick, definitely. Look for me at Detailfest (Sunday) - still on the fence about attending since I'm pretty sure it'll be like a trip to a casino for me - only bring cash and what I can afford to "lose". Credit cards stay safe at home...

:D
