Has anyone actually tried the Chemical Guys J-97 $999.00 wax?

How were they able to give away something so rare and expensive like that

Who knows. I must say the container is really nice. Solid billet aluminum.

Man, I read through this whole thread hoping SOMEONE had actually tried the stuff!

Someone has. Autogeek gave one out not to long ago. Here's this guys review.

I may use it on my Camaro just to use it. I should sell it someone who has the money for it and use the cash for other things :xyxthumbs:.

We're pretty close though! On of us has it! Unless Guz's wax isn't j97. I don't know their line well.

I should open it and see what's inside. For all I know it could be coal lol. But as far as I know it is the real deal that Autopia gave away. I'll open it one of these days.

So it comes in a fancy container made of billet aluminum, that's not cheap and then there's the Mark up😲

I would love to see #915 go up against Joy, head to head!

Is that j97? Sorry sir, I wasn't sure.

The 'jars' used by many of these fancy waxes are likely going to be the major cost. Think about it, they probably sell a really tiny quantity. The development and design of the pot alone is going to take time. If you put a designer onto it and it takes a couple of days and you only reckon to sell a few dozens of pots, you could be talking $100 just to cover the design. It is quite plausible that you could be into a couple of hundred bucks, just for a pot. I will guarantee you that most of these fancy packaged waxes are worth only a tiny fraction of what the packaging actually costs.

For reference, we sell three waxes, to the trade/resale sector. All three have no problem standing against anything under $100. Cost to the brand is nearer $10.

I would definitely agree with what PiPUK says. In this case, the 'tub' is a solid aluminum replica of the gearbox from a motorcycle, completely with a bolt-on lid, that was supposedly designed by someone. Definitely not a cheap tub, and would have cost a fair bit of money to get a bunch made.

... They claim that it's "collectible." Sure, why not.

If I were given a pot of this product I would send samples to forum members like Swanicyouth, Bob, Roshan, Dad07, Flash Gordon, etc. until I was left with just an empty container.

My two cents.

^Thanks Vegas.

Your the man.

If I had a grand to spend on wax - I wouldn't pick this one. I'd think I'd go with a Zymol that's like a grand - Destiny, Atlantique, or whatever.

I'd also want to try out Race Glaze Black Label or whatever it's called.

If you've noticed....

Not a lot of high dollar waxes coming out anymore.

I bought some pretty good stuff":
