Couldn't agree more Cardaddy. When my son is old enough to drive, he'll be driving a solid car with less than 200HP and a five-star crash rating. Not to mention a GPS locator and a speed recorder.![]()
Problem solved. It is well known that there are many V8 conversions for Miata's. Drop an LS1 or 5.0 in your Miata and blow your friends doors off. Then see if they still cal it a "chick car".

Here's a pic of my "chick car"....gets chicks all the time

My first vehicle at 13 was a '77 Ford Ranchero GT, thing was a tank! My second vehicle at 17 is my current F-150. Surprisingly my parents were more concerned with me driving the F-150.
When I was in high school, the convertible VW rabbit was the ultimate chick car, especially in white. I think I read in one of the car mags that vw will be building a cabrio golf again. I may be wrong. But if not, fathers of high school and college girls, get ready to head to the VW group dealers.
Psynx "two guys in a miata" line? Classic.
A RAM!!
I enjoyed cardaddys story man, nice to hear. So would an Infiniti fx35 be a chick car? Naaah i don't think so! Lol although i do see many women drive this car, i can say the same about men. not sure
My daughters will have the GPS locator implanted in their neck. I have 8 and 10 years to go before they can drive. My oldest just asked me if she can have my car (got it last week) when she's old enough.
No one mentioned a Mini Cooper yet. I have one, and I hear it's a "chick car" all the time. Doesn't bother me too much when I consider it get WAY better mileage than the F150 I traded for it and it handles 100 times better than my '03 Cobra.

Going on Cardaddy's story, I do think about those things often while I'm driving. =O It's also good that I didn't have this car while I was a teenager.
One thing I've learned to keep in mind is that I am not much better off than somebody in a smart car (Or similar mini-vehicle). Therefore, I drive far more carefully than I ever did in my old Wrangler. I just never thought of these things while I was sitting high above other vehicles... it just comes with the territory.
As much as I love this MX-5, when it has finally finished it's life in my garage I plan to buy a much safer vehicle.
Thanks for the detailed reply, as well as your insight into this topic.
I've had 3 Miatas, 2 turbo and 1 with a Jackson Racing supercharger... Oddly enough I've never had anyone ever say to my face "that's a girl car", but then living in the south it seems girls are drawn more to Jeeps and F-whatever pick-up trucks than sports cars.
Heck, in my area even a Corvette screams "cougar" more than a Miata says "girlie"...
Haters gonna hate, until they get behind the wheel and take one for a spin. They'll be checking out craigslist to pick one up cheap after that...
Send me a private and I'll point you toward a bunch of Miata specific forums. These cars have a global following that is second to no brand or mark.
