After watching Miata's DESTROY my M3's autocross times, I truly respect the Miata - it's not a chick car, it's a fantastic sports car. Now, convertible Bugs - that's a chick's car :)
 
As a straight man confindent in his orientation, allow me to give you my thoughts on the matter. I LOVE small cars - light, powerful, agile - roadsters rock - I love my S2000 and my older MR2s.

These cars are beloved by women for other reasons, but for guys who enjoy driving - these cars are for enthusiasts! I have ridden through West Hollywood with the top down on my yellow S2000 without regard for public opinion or my own safety. If I like a car, I could give two sh!ts who hates it!

Now, having said that I'm getting out of the Yellow S2K and into a Black 2014 Mustang GT/Track Pack. What? Another chick car? Maybe so! My only motivation was to own a slice of that classic 'Merican v8 thundah, son. God bless America and our fine selection of conveyance!

I feel like a chick when I drive my sister's "white" Corolla. Not sure why but most car that are white I feel are chick cars. Don't get me wrong, white is a very nice color but just not for me.
 
Isn't this a psychology based thing? Doesn't this really just come down to embedding the pink and blue mindset in our culture?

I think it gets brainwashed into masculine/effeminate dominant/subordinate.

Size meaning bigger is more masculine, smaller is more effeminate.

Resulting in: any small car is effeminate, anything big is macho.

So if I am 6' 3" 275lbs driving a Camaro SS with a LS3 v8, one would conclude that I am automatically in need of a diet, and I think any car with a 4cyl or v6 is effeminate (girly).

By sheer coincidence, that's exactly what I think. I wouldn't be caught dead, if I could fit, in a Miata.
