Blue/grey/red pads

I have a few of each from LC (flat and CCS smart pads), but I've only used the red so far to apply BFWD. Reading the descriptions on the website still confuses me since they all basically say the same thing... Is there a more specific pad or situation where one pad is more desirable? I read something about removing buffer swirls but that's all I can remember.
 
I have both red and grey. I use the red for applying waxes and sealants and grey for straight polishes.
 
By polish do you mean menzerna sf4000 polish or like an AIO
 
I use blue for spreading wax or sealant. I use black for finishing polishes or AIO's sometimes. The firmness of the black is nice when you need to apply a little pressure. I don't have any experience with red. It is my understanding that it is even softer than the blue. All the different colors can be confusing at first. Maybe you could try the Hydrotechs next. 3 options is kinda nice.

Polish as in Meg's Ultimate Polish. I don't buy that fancy stuff lol. And yes, the red is very soft. Almost a pain because its hard to clean.
 
Sounds good! Much more understandable now. I have 4 3" hydrotechs in tangerine and cyan. Now, it would still be ok to put the SF4000 down with a white pad if needed after unsatisfactory results with the white pad?
 
So would I use straight polishes for my black pad on a da? I finished down my car with a hydro tech tangerine pad and used sf4000 with a pc7424. Never used the black pad that I have.. I didnt mean to jack the thread either, but would it make a difference if I went back and polished again with the black LC pad on my da with 4500? Would it rev up some glossy gloss? The paint is black
 
I like a black 5.5" flat pad for finishing on my Toyota because my paint is the texture of refridgerated butter. Anything more will induce micromarring or at least the chance of it.
