I have an electric "Cleanforce" Home Depot pressure washer. It is rated at 1800psi and 1.5gpm. If I use it with the 40 degree tip that came with it do you guys think it would be paint safe?

I heard that factory painted plastic (like on bumpers etc) is rated for about 1400psi and that painted metal panels have an even higher rating. I know the 15 degree tip would be too powerful becasue I guess that is what you use to get the full 1800 psi.

Also even when using the 40 degree tip I do not hold it right up to the paint either.

Just wondering if I need a special fan rinse tip or if the 40 degree would be OK on my cars painted plastic/metal surfaces?

BTW do you guys find that rinsing with a pressure washer strips the trim sealant away?

Although some special chemical-spray tips are more of a "fan-shape"...
I've always used, and thought, the 40 degree tip was the "fan-tip".

I would use that washer and tip combo without hesitation. As long as there is no paint missing in spots there is little chance of peeling it off. Also, a 0 degree tip would get the most psi I would think. I have used a 15 degree on a 2500psi machine without issue.

Maybe the 40 is the fan tip Bob. I'm not too familiar with pressure washer equipment but you are probably right!

Wow, then a 40 on a 1800 psi should be no prob!
