Rats! Just after I arrive you shut down for the season.
Hope I can get on the invite list for next year.
Thanks for doing these!
Well, it's not that I'm being an elitist prick or anything for suggesting an "invitation only" type deal. It just seems that some past attendees have come to push their own agenda or freeload information.
It's as if they get the time behind a polisher and the next thing you know...they're a pro detailer in the region.
Well I hate to say it, but to be an actual Pro-detailer by law you need to have:
-Business license in your town or county
-Insurance/Bond of some sort
Otherwise you're just a side job enthusiast no matter how skilled you are.
I have all of the above and I don't claim to be a professional master of this art. I'm actually legit meaning, own a legal business. Yes, there are people with legit businesses who are hacks, we are all aware of that. Just stating the facts.
What's happened here is that now this affects my business (and a few others).
Let's say for example, if any of these "pro's" screw up a car, my business & I are automatically affiliated and guilty by association.
There's 20k views on this thread alone, just about everyone in the region has seen it. So imagine a potential client looking for a detailer in the area and they notice that one of these detailers from the area has a bad rep. They're going to automatically pile us into a group and everyone loses.
And they do. Many people know about the infamous "NOVA group that details cars".
I don't want that. Call me whatever you want but I'm just watching my own back and I expect others to do the same.
It's also a slap to the ones who took the steps to go legit in this industry.
AND before anyone assumes that I'm scared of competition, It's definitely not that and you'd be ignorant to think it. There are enough cars in one city for many of us to handle.
It's that potentially losing out because of someone else's mistake..SUCKS.
I've kept my business low key as most of my clients come through by word of mouth and I'm not a production detailer by any means.
The idea of this was to share tips and tricks and just have a good time with fellow enthusiasts and pros or help out those that want to learn. Not turn it into an actual school, certification program, (Which I've never intended it to be) or a time and place for self gain (i.e, advertisement).
As I stated earlier, if someone wants to host their own thing, go right ahead. It's a free country. I don't really care if you own a business either, just wanted to sound my thoughts, and that I no longer want to be affiliated.
I'm sure that those who do own a business understand where I'm coming from.
CLIFF NOTES:
I'm here looking to meet new friends and share passion. Not mix business. Plain and simple.
