I read the earlier post on how to use the light by Mike Phillips which was outstanding. My question is are there any tips or tricks for using it on a white car? On dark colors, I can see the imperfections very easily, but on my white colored car I don't see hardly anything unless I pull the car out into direct sunlight.

On white paint, your best bet with the brinkman would be to use it in a dark garage. This is one advantage of white paint, it hides defects very well.

:iagree: This is a good tip. Also, if it is pearlescent white you may have to aim the light at a 25-35 degree angle from the panel you are trying to view and catch the defects (as opposed to aiming the light straight at the panel).

That's actually a great idea! Easier to shut the garage door then to constantly pull the car out and back in.

Thank you

Thanks for the tip, ordering one of these tonight off amazon for my Oxford White F150.

I've had good results highlighting swirls on light colors by using a 100w equivalent, 6500K CFL suspended a few feet from the paint. Seems to throw the same light they use at gas stations that always shows up swirls.

I did a pearl white Acura recently and noticed my Brinkman didnt pick up things too well . I installed one of those 300 watt energy saver bulbs from Home Depot in the overhead socket and it worked great for the hood top and trunk, showed every swirl.
