Once I'm done with the compound and polish stage....what do you top this with? Or do you topcoat at all?
Paint is dark red and black. Neither car will ever see bad weather, just local car shows. I don't think I want or need a sealant, or do I ?

Have you looked at any nice waxes? A quality carnuba finishing wax would be a good choice for looks alone. Many use a glaze like Wet Glaze 2.0 for show duty where extra gloss is paramount to durability. As far as waxes AG has many to choose from.

I'm thinking of using Pinnacle Souveran Carnuba over the BF duo. Is there any advantage to using a sealant first?

Durability is the advantage. I like a sealant first on a daily driver. It's probably not as necessary on a show car. Just my $.02

If you're happy with the Blackfire line the next step would be to protect your paint with a sealant such as Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection (2 coats just because, 12 hour cure time between each) and then if you so desire, top it with a wax like Blackfire Midnight Sun. However, you're not restricted to the BF line. There are plenty of other options but popular sealants are:

BF Wet Diamond
WolfGang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant
Menzerna Powerlock
or even Collinite 845, even though it's considered a hybrid

as for waxes you could look at:
CG Pete's 53, Wolfgang Fuzion, P21S Concours or 100% Carnauba, DP Max Wax or Pinnacle Souveran, Dodo Juice waxes and more than I could ever possibly care to list

I've not ordered anything yet. I've just been staring and reading for way too long now!

I'm actually leaning towards: Menzerna SIP (SI 1500), Super Finish (SF 4000), Power Lock, and topping it with Pinn Souveran.

Does this seem like a decent combo?

All those products have stellar reputations for a reason my good man, I'm sure you'll be more than pleased.

:iagree: I was also thinking this morning that the new BF Black Ice might be worth considering if you want to stay in the Blacfire line. A little pricy up front but cost per application is probably nominal. Good luck! Can't wait for pics!

I ended up ordering Menzerna SI 1500, SF 4000, Power Lock Sealant, Color Lock Carnuba and used the 30% off code. I also ordered 9 Lake Country flat pads.....3-orange, 3-white, 2-black, and 1-blue. I also picked the Pinacle free-bee.
I guess we'll see how this goes for the new guy! Hope I don't wreck anything.

Very, very high quality products! :dblthumb2:

You ordered some very good products. What vehicle(s) are you working on?
