Getting a 2013 dark blue camaro from a large potential customer. He wants to see my work on this car. I've got everything lined up just wondering if with the color dark blue if i should finish with a carnuba wax or a sealer?
Any thoughts? And what would make you decide on either one? Why carnuba or why sealer?
I know the difference just not sure which is better in dark blue

Anyone? Dark blue car, best look not concerned with durability just finish

Carnuba brings out the best shine and slickness to me. Sealants from what I can tell are about durability, but they don't look as good as a Nuba to me.

So for me I use a sealant topped with the Nuba for the best of both worlds. If your guy doesn't care about durability, then go straight to carnuba.

Yea durability doesn't matter much. Just need the fastest best shine. Won't have time for sealer to cure

Is this production work? If so go with a good aio and top with Wolfgang deep gloss liquid seal. It takes about 2 hours to do a sedan.

I don't have any wg except dgps 3.0 in a sample bottle. I don't have much to to choose from in finishing waxes. And I'd rather do a polish like m205 to remove water spots. Then top with something good. For finishing i have the following:
DG 111, megs ultimate carnuba, some knock off brand paste wax w/carnuba, knock off brand color brightner sealant, megs mf da finishing wax, some different brands black waxes and i think that's about all i have.

So it is either gonna be megs carnuba or DG 111. After either megs UC, UP, our m205

Dg111 all the way. I tried Meg's ultimate wax and its pretty impressive for a OTC wax.

So you believe the DG 111 sealant will produce a better looking finish on dark blue than carnuba?
Also i know it takes at least 2 hours for DG to cure and i won't have that much time but could i, and/or should i top it with a nuba anyway?

What's the shortest amount of time i can let 111 cure before applying a nuba? Our should i even bother with both and just use one?

Nuba is more for looks, if you say durability isn't an issue then just use 2 layers of Nuba. Good luck

One more question.
Should i use a glaze before the wax?

Entirely up to you its an extra step but me personally have noticed a slight better look with a glaze prior to lsp. Also has fillers so if you mask any defects there you go. But if time is an issue skip it. It aint worth the hassle

No one asked is this a daily driver for this customer? If it is you should seal it and wax it not just wax. The customer will be a lot happier that you sealed the paint to help protect there car. Go the extra mile to make them happy. I always go the extra mile for all my customers whether its a 300k car or a 20k car. This is why I booked all year long I treat ever car the same.

I would normally agree. But this is another production customer. But one won't have much work but will pay more

This is the best advice.

OP, you may be better of with a good Sealant. That way you have decent looks depending on which is used and the durability will far outlast the traditional Carnauba.

I would not skip too much for a first car that can make or break the deal.

This is not a "production detail" at least for this 1st car in my opinion.

As they say "you only get one chance to make a 1st impression" but before that LSP application make sure you do proper prep to the paint before hand. As far as the debate of sealant or nuba, well I say DG #111 would be the route I'd go and if its a partly sunny day the clarity or "pop" given off by DG #111 will seal the deal, pardon my pun, LOL.

Good luck to you!

Just don't go too overboard and kill yourself for the amount of money you are charging. If you provide a $400 detail for $150, that is what will be expected of you in the future from this customer.
