Otc microfiber

Costco's MF cloths are amazing. At $15 for a 24 pack you cant beat it. Only downside is it only comes in yellow.

Paper towel is the best for windows. My dad used newspaper.

The advanced here has girots products but not mf towels.
And the Windows. I HATE doing Windows I can never get them streak free with paper towels

With Advanced Auto you have to find a hub store to get GG towels........I have 4 stores within 10min drive and only one of them have the towels but the rest carry the product.

Btw groits have some good towels...if you can get them otc I find you spend a little more than just ordering them from GG itself or AG.

The profoce ones? They come it 4 colors if those are the ones you are talking about.
Drew,
The Costco towels are slightly different than those carried by Sam's Club, which carries the Pro-Force towels.

Lol at the cd test but that's all I'll say cd test really stirs everyone up here. But yeah that test is meaningless but whatever.

I don't think it's meaningless when I have seen dozens of detailers and enthusiasts on this thread talk about it as a way of gauging a quality towel or product.

@op, the first microfibers I owned were from walmart, they were thinner and some of the stuff they sell now, similiar to zwipes, but I use them for trim, the interior and tires.

Oops I misread and thought he said Sams. I know Costco carries Eurow yellow's and might have an even newer MF they carry.

So if dozens of experts say setting your car on fire is awesome, then it's correct right? All I am saying is a cars paint and the plastic cd coating are not the same. I've seen and personally experienced the plushest towels scratch a car, that didn't scratch a magical cd. Gold plush Jrs, great soft totally awesome towel right? Pass a CD test right? Take that towel and use it on a single stage paint Honda civic or older Toyota. It'll scratch because its not about the towel it's about your paint. End of rant! :dblthumb2:

All seriousness though towel choice is dependent on your car and its paint. If you really want to see if a towel will scratch your car, go to a small area on the car, easy to recover by a quick polish and see if it scratches your car!

Sorry for the rant, my CD test partner in crime(CM8 6MT) is off on duty in the war or else I'd have one other person in the fight with me.

Honestly it's all about what makes your detailing fun, I just like sharing my thoughts! :props:

Well, I don't know about you guys, but the CD test has prevented me from scratching my wheels.

I happen to have and own a honda civic with, as you know, softg paint. The cobra towels pass the cd test and also don't harm my paint. The walmart towels, not so much.

If a bunch of experts say setting your car on fire is better than polishing I wont do it cause I'm not a sheep. I'll put my logic and knowledge behind it first. If it all checks out in that one second Ill follow up with more research and then go from there before doing it.

I don't think like that :xyxthumbs:

What does CD stand for? Also does any know if a Porsche Panameria has hard or soft paint?

I use Bounty, with Srayaway, not some fancy expensive window stuff and I never streak. It may well be you. I will say, however, heavy acid spots are a problem.

CD = compact disc

The CD test involves rubbing a microfiber towel on a new CD to give you an idea whether or not the towel will scratch paint. If it scratches the CD I would not use it on paint. As I said in a previous post in this thread, even if a towel didn't scratch a CD, it doesn't necessarily mean I'll use it on paint. The CD test is an imprecise indicator of a towel's ability to scratch a surface.

same for me, I use and abuse those in interiors, seat rails, exhaust, wheels, engine bays, door jambs and so forth. Paint gets my good stuff, everything else with the exception of a high grade interior or high end wheels I use the Costco stuff

:iagree:

go to pep boys, the autospa brand is made by carrand and those towels are awesome for otc, the mf included with every mothers claybar kit is a great towel, and if pep boys near you carries the barret jackson line of detailing products, those mf towels are awesome (they are made by farecla) the gg mf towels are extremely soft and absorbent but they produce a lot of lint (brand new out of package, and i snapped them to get as much lint out as possible), so as far as i am concerned the gg towels are not worth the money.
