I give up

Ok guys, I was using the TSR on speed 5 with my PC. On a panel, ive tried eveything from a black pad with m205, to blacklight and a blue pad, even tried m105 on an orange pad followed by TSR on a white pad. Nothing works. When I come back home ill try different combinations and techniques. Never had this problem before owith my car :/
 
How are you holding the polisher? I don't know if this has been asked yet but the pad should be flat, you should only be applying mild pressure. Holograms from a DA are mostly a result of poor technique, not pad or product (unless you are using way too aggressive of each, which in your case does not seem to be an issue).

Ican assure you my technique is correct. But ill try later today again to give v2 one last chance

OK!

It sounds like you were spot on with everything so not it's time to go through the process step by step until things improve.

  • Pick a panel that you've identified holograms.
  • Mount a clean white pad and prime it with Meguiar's M205
  • Keep the speed setting on 5
  • Work the area moving no faster than 1/2" / second
  • Work no larger than an 18" X 18" section
  • Perform at least 3 to 4 passes
  • Wash the area with soapy water and rinse.
  • Dry the area with air then inspect using the same light.

Make certain the backing plate continues to rotate at all times.

If this doesn't correct the holograms then step it up using Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover and a White pad repeating the steps above. What we're trying to do is determine what level of aggressiveness you need to use to remove the defect then finish polish the area.

Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover - will remove 2000 grit marks
Meguiar's M205 - will remove 2500 grit marks

Thanks for the advice Bobby! I will go do it right now and report back with the results.
 
Ok, so I tried a white pad with m205, moving very slowly. Then went over with Eraser to see the results. They were ok, as in the "holograms" weren't as bad. I tried TSR, and it I'd fairly well on the test spot on my hood. Definetaly better than what was before. I tried it on a much worse panel though, and the holograms were still there :(

So it seems like I need something more aggressive. Great. More CC to remove lol So what's next? Orange pad? Green? I'm down for anything.
 
Sounds like you applied uneven pressure to begin with. I have seen this kind of mistake by other detailers. Sometimes you will have to take your sweet time when you are compounding and /or polishing since you might have to spend more time later to correct your mistake.

Heres a picture. Its really hard to get it on camera, and its worse in real life in terms of how it looks. You can faintly see the holograms though in the picture. Oh and i tried a white pad with two drops of m205 and 2 drops of m105 with no luck aswell, although it did get rid of the deeper scratch type holograms.
 
Just tried m205 on a blue pad for the hell of it. Didnt do anything to be quite honest :( So i guess it means im going to have to try either m105 on a white pad, or go onto the next level, the Orange Pad....this is going to be quite an adventure lol

BTW, M205 is a subpar finishing polish, unless the paint is hard!

Oh man if you saw it in person you would be surprised how bad it is. When i move my head back and forth i can just see the holograms moving :/ if i point a flashlight onto one spot up close, it looks fine. From far away is when you start noticing it. I actually just tried an orange pad with m205 and got crap results. Ill try an orange pad with TSR tomorrow morning, and that will be the last test i do. If that doesnt work ill just do TSR with a white pad all over my car again, but this time very slowly. Im tired of removing so much CC from my car only to get poor results :(
 
M205, Blue Pad on a PC is a combo that has produced constantly high results.

Don't mean to criticize but it sounds that there might be a need for adjusting your technique. If the paint is soft maybe you should go lighter on the pressure and work the polish a bit longer.

Something that worked for you in the past doesn't mean that works in every car.

Work methodically and in small areas to eliminate what is going wrong.
 
Maybe stop trying such aggreesive products. Try a black pad and some 106fa/sf4000. Ive used 205 on a black to clean up corvette clear which is notoriously hardwith great results. So not sure why 205 is not working for you. Again use some DAT finishing polishes on a black pad. Try a new test area and work the product until it looks like your spreafing butter. You could be causing the swirls by stopping early with SMAT.
