Today I worked in a Mercedes Benz I was call to polish
the hood that was repainted and wet sand .
After I finished the woners came and I took the time to point
The defects in the paint .I asked the if they had taken the car to detailing
And show them the sloppy job they had done.
I told them my price to fix it .they Almost ran on me.
They told me the can get it done for $100 where they took it last time
I was shocked that after they saw all the defects in the paint they still want to take it back.

That's just for you some people don't know the difference

Thanks
Is funny that also my wife tell me I put too much effort
To make the cars look good and people don't care just
Want their car shine.but every time I do one step detailing
Most of they time I go back and do some extra to make it look better
Other way I don't fell good knowing is more I could do
I forget is business.if I in this it because I like it I'm just going to have
To think as a business person.
Then how I do I sell my services ?
How do I know my cuatumers needs?
do I have to start offering the most simple service ?
I'm new to this site I have jet not seen a threat that would help me to
Find a plan on how to sell my service.

How to attach some pic?

Thanks

One of the biggest challenges in this business is matching your packages to your customers needs. I have only 3 different detail packages. From wash wax vacuum to compound polish and full interior. I match the package to what the customer wants.

98% of detailing customers are not interested in paint correction services. They just want the car shiny and to have a clean interior.

Match your offerings to the customers need.

The way I see it is if they aren't looking for paint correction they don't want it. It's an extremely hard upsell to someone who

a) doesn't know it/understand it
b) can't even recognize swirls to begin with

You're better off wash/wax or even glaze if you want to go over the top, but no matter what there are some people that you cant upsell too.

Now if someone comes looking for it, or looking for a 1-step, upselling to a full 2-step is another story because they're somewhat knowledgeable, or if they're looking for a permanent coating like opti-coat.

Case in point for another business, I can talk your ear off on why you could need to spend $150 on a pair of running shoes, $100 on insoles, and $15 on a pair of socks, but would you buy it?

Just a little bit of thread drift here, (figured it didn't need a new thread). ;)

One of my regular customers sent me a referral earlier this week. The guy called and said his insurance company had paid him for a cleaning of his interior and to buff his hood. When I asked what the problem was, he replied it was a BOY cat that had gotten onto the hood of his 2003 Dodge truck and scratched it, then it got into the truck and 'urinated' in the seat.

Then he went on about telling me that he had ALREADY had it cleaned but it still smelled bad. He has replaced the carpet with vinyl, replaced the seat cover with a new one (cloth), but didn't replace the FOAM! I told him right away without replacing the foam he would never get boy cat smell out.

Then he said he REALLY just wanted me to buff his hood and nothing else. But... (and this is the kicker), he wanted me to write him an estimate saying that IMO, the seat could never be recovered (short of replacing the foam) so that he could get them to pay for it.

OK, so once I get to doing the job on the hood I could look at the interior and come up with a plan of attack. (or so I thought) So I told him my basic exterior detail for a pickup starts at $170 (not a wash and wax, but a FULL detail) but that level does not include any buffing or paint correction. What I could do however was throw in a single stage buffing @ $75 and work out the hood problem(s), but I really need to see it first.

In actuality, it'd be cheaper to go for the Level 1 detail @ $260 which is a full interior/exterior package but doesn't include buffing. However as he's already had the interior "cleaned" I'd go over anything that was missed and spend the extra time buffing out the hood. Or... step up to the Level 2 @ $315 and the entire truck would be buffed (single stage/AIO) and we'd pay extra attention to the hood. By the time it was all said and done the truck would be like new inside and out, and we would be happy to make sure his insurance company understands that the smell in the foam would be better served by putting a new (junkyard seat that'd been recovered with his NEW seat skin) seat in.

The point being, that just buffing the hood and leaving the entire truck untouched really doesn't go to show any real improvement. Being as they would pay for the overall buffing then he wouldn't be 'out of pocket' after all was said and done. But still, we NEED TO SEE IT before we can say if it can even be buffed to his satisfaction.

About now he finally got to what he REALLY WANTED. He then went to say he'd been paid $100 to buff the hood and because the interior was so bad (after it'd been cleaned) that he had pulled the carpet, pulled the seat cover, and replaced them both, even though they didn't pay for it. WHICH... meant he had spent more than they paid him and he was looking for ME to provide him with an estimate so he could get MORE money from his insurance company and maybe just spot buff the hood. (Without even washing the truck!!!!!!!) In fact, he would have been perfectly happy had I just faxed him a BILL without even seeing, or working on the truck.
Oh he!! NO! :rolleyes::nomore:

Wow, good for you turning it down. Reminds me of people who go apply for jobs wanting to get turned down so they can keep pulling unemployment.

^ If people spent half the effort actually working instead of defrauding people they would be very successful!!!!

I don't bother with these kinds of people.
When ever I hear "well that guy charges this"
I tell them to go to them and leave me alone.
Don't do jobs for people who don't appreciate your talent.
You have talent, your an artiest, act like one and the good customers will stay with you and the bad one will go to the hacks
