Going to be starting a new job on May 20th. Going to be going to work for a local dealer at their Land Rover / Porsche / Volvo / Jaguar / Maserati location. I was told I would be working on the new and used cars and not customer cars that come in for service.

Sure the pay isn't the best but that's no reason why I can't do my best work for them and show them what a real detailer can do.

Good luck, keep your standards up and show them how cars are supposed to look!

Don't give your knowledge, know-how, and labor away...ever.

They are paying per hour.

I'm not giving away my knowledge. My goal is to make cars look their best,

Hope they wont get in your way concerning the quality of your work , you might have to lower it allot . Hopefully , it wont happen .

Good luck with your new job buddy !

Yeah I wonder what your going to have to change.

What procedures are you going to hide?

Not going to hide anything, just going to do it the right way. Doesn't seem like anyone there knows what it takes. Just have to show them by the result.

This thread gave me an idea, that maybe I can go apply part time. And just get paid per car. I don't really need the money, just want to keep practicing and I can use the profits to keep buying more stuff. Plus due to my disability I won't be able to be working Full time like I used to.

How did you go about applying? Did you bring a resume?

The dealer I am going to work for has lots of locations and they have a website where I applied. You can always stop in person and ask.

Thank, you.
I was thinking about stopping in person, talk to the guy and take in my application see what happens. Don't really mind getting the job. In a way I want to see my competition lol

Wish I could show the detail guys at my job how to truly clean a car. They just trash the paint on new cars with their "extra soft" brushes. Those things are the devil.

I may have myself a detailing job coming up soon, though. I was at work helping out a customer as she asked me about waxes and such. I got to talking and briefly mentioned that I detail my own car and other people's cars on occasion, and she wound up getting my number and basically plans on having me detail her car and wants it to looks as new as possible. The interior needs work, so I gotta start researching how to clean the carpets. I really hate cleaning interiors for some reason, but I can't just vacuum stained carpet and call it clean.

Good luck at your new job, man. Let us know what they think of your skills.

Dealers don't care the only goal is to get it clean and sell it as fast as possible thats the bottom line. Even high end dealers are the same way I can't tell you how many times I fix what dealers do to high end cars its really sad.

Man, seems like they'd want to not trash those expensive cars. People are something else. So glad I never let the dealer wash my car when I bought it. I knew I wouldn't let them, but sometimes I forget how terrible they are.
