EVIL Black ZL1 - Repaint - Orange Peel/Sanding Marks/Hologram Removal & CQuartz Finest

amazing work. Any chance you could take a pic of all the products you used? Hard for newbies like me to keep up with the acronyms. Thanks.

Hi Wills...

-What a spectacular paint correction by a most spectacular detailing-duo...Kudoes to not only you,
but to Dani<<<("The Hardest Working Woman In The Detailing World") as well!! :dblthumb2:

-As to this latest write-up of yours: Sterling, as usual!

-Sure hope this customer decides to get some PPF on those most vulnerable areas of his Camaro.

See you later, my Good Man.

:)

Bob

since you got called by the dealership too, who paid for the work? The customer or the dealer

Oh my Man my Man
Respect for You and Dani

Salute to both of you , you guys did a fabulous recovery :)
double thumbs up:props::props:

Wow, just wow (to both the horrible re-paint, and your work).

that was badass,it was like reading a story on the detail-super sweet

You two are well oil machine. This was another awesome write up that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Great work!

You guys did a great job, as usual. I wasn't sure if you guys could top your last major rejuvenation (the Escalade), but I think you did!
And thanks for the effort in photodocumenting it. I know that can take a lot of work in itself, but it's appreciated and I bet it helps your business too. So... did you at least get to go for a ride in that beast afterwards? BTW, did the dealer body shop end up paying for it?

Amazing Job team!!! The transformation is out if this world! Keep up the good work!!

I can't believe you guys are working in this heat...

That's just amazing. Even more doing it here in Arizona haha.

That's beautiful work

Thank you, very much so appreciated :dblthumb2:

That may well be the most awesome write-up I've ever enjoyed. Absolutely amazing. Kudos x1,000!

I think for ME at least, it was my best write up...and our biggest turn around...Dani and I were talking and towards the end we were like "You know...every so often we keep saying 'I think this is our best work yet'...it kinda seems like we keep beating our previous best" ....i think thats definitely true for this job...probably the most messed up paint we've worked on, which ive said in other write ups and it was TRUE at the time lol...then it's like...oh you fixed that? How about THIS!

What a read that was. Had me on the edge of my seat for sure. I enjoyed the write up and the pictures to finish off the job. Very well done.

I dont know how you guys work in that heat. I cant do it here in Vegas when it gets that hot.

You can imagine how i felt sanding a car like THAT...to the degree i had to...in the areas that we had to...and under those conditions. Serious stress level lol. Keeping your cool (figuratively speaking) was essential...takes time..but worth it in the end.

As for the heat it's really just mind over matter lol...and LOTS of water!

Wow, amazing save on a nightmare of sloppy body shop work.

Thank you..and yup...agreed...kinda feel like we should offer to give those guys a paint polishing 101 lesson!

awesome job on the car! Looking at each of the before-pictures was like taking a kidney shot for each picture.

Glad to see that you could save the car's paint!

I know right?! Like i said in the write up..serious flash backs even though it was just a few days ago we were doing the work. When we first saw it we were like...wow...then once the paint was CLEAN...it was even more so like...WOW...we have some hard work ahead of us.

damn.

damn amazing.

That bout says it right there :dblthumb2:

gorgeous work!

Thank you so much...appreciate you checking it out

Very nice. So what dealership should I avoid?

All of them? Lol, kidding...i wont throw names under the bus publicly ...i'll just leave it at that on here ;)

Holy $&:). That's what I call a turnaround for sure. Amazing results. The time invested in the write up, posting the pictures, and working on the car must have been hours. I always enjoy reading your post and dialogue with the jokes. You guys do amazing work. Thanks for sharing as this is much appreciated. People should actually read the whole post and not skim. Just my 2 cents. Amazing work once again, that is one badass ride and resurrection indeed.

Thank you, really appreciate those of you who actually read the whole write up...though i know i"m long winded so i understand those who just skim :) I do try to share what we learned in each detail...and i feel each one we do we learn more and more..maybe not even about polishing but just about...detailing...chasing those areas down that no one may see...or at least trying to!

Thanks again for reading :dblthumb2:

I enjoyed that very much. One question, have you considered cutting a hole in the garage wall to put in some AC? or one of the stand alone units? I think you would give yourself a much better work environment. You can put filter material over the output vents to reduce containments. Just a thought. You guys make a great team from what I can tell. I hope the owner compensated you very well for all that work!

It would be nice and i totally understand where you're coming from...just for now fans are all we've got...and we make due. Its just a space issue more than anything...hopefully one day we'll have a shop or a designated work space rather than the back and fourth from going mobile to at home. But, we do what we gotta do.

Outstanding and well written, thank you for taking the time!

Very welcome...thank you for taking the time to read through it all.

amazing work. Any chance you could take a pic of all the products you used? Hard for newbies like me to keep up with the acronyms. Thanks.

I can list them at least most of them if it will help you some.

Cleaning we used Optimum Power Clean for tires and to strip the glaze off the paint (pre-spray then do a wash).

The good stuff for polishing was:

Meguiars 105 for compounding
Meguiars 101 for areas too
Meguiars Microfiber cutting pads (5" and 3")
Rupes Yellow/Green pads
Buff and Shine Green pad (for polishing with Meguiars 205)

Rupes 21 & 15mm polishers from buffdaddy.com
PC 7424
Unigrit 1500 and 3000 sanding discs

Optimum No Rinse to wash with after polishing was done (to get rid of the compound dust etc)

CarPro Eraser to strip paint of oil and prep for CQuartz Finest coating (Carpro-us.com)

Carpro DLux for hard plastic trim

Opti-Bond on tires

I THINK thats about it...also..some very good quality microfiber towels. I actually emphasize that to customers after they take their vehicle back and usually we will sell them a maintenance kit with mitts/towels/product so they can keep up their vehicle as safely as possible

Bob, thanks as always! And yes, Dani seriously is - i have no doubt about that. Her back was killing her from being on her feet that long...legs were tired...hell so were mine, but we just had to push on...but it was worth it.

And yes the next day he went and got PPF on all the vulnerable areas...so she should stay looking nice and rock-chip free for a good while to come :)

since you got called by the dealership too, who paid for the work? The customer or the dealer

Dealership is footing the bill on this one...usually doesn't happen but they get props from me on this for doing the right thing.

double thumbs up:props::props:

Hahaha, thanks a ton. I think we found new respect for ourselves and eachother after this one! Thanks again.

Wow, just wow (to both the horrible re-paint, and your work).

Wow is the word for this write up isn't it lol :props:

excellent work.

Thank you much...wow can't believe how many of you guys are commenting...I'll be sure to respond to you all though!

that was badass,it was like reading a story on the detail-super sweet

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it so much :)

You two are well oil machine. This was another awesome write up that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Great work!

Thank you for taking the time to read it...makes it worth the time it takes to put it together! And yes i think the 2 of us accommodate eachother quite well :)

You guys did a great job, as usual. I wasn't sure if you guys could top your last major rejuvenation (the Escalade), but I think you did!

Lol that Escalade was crazy wasn't it? I agree though, i think this one beats the Escalade...it was just swirled to hell...this had peel and sanding marks and holograms EVERYWHERE. I only showed part of the sanding marks but there were plenty of others in lots of other places...especially edges..go figure.

Dealership is suppose to pay for this one...so thats a plus...usually its the owner who has to foot the bill...but not this time thank goodness.

No ride in it yet, but the owner said "I'll have to come pick you guys up late some night when the traffic isn't too bad...we can go out and beat up on some GT500's! Thats my favorite thing to do, its my cars mortal enemy!" lol

Danis comment was "No its not, that body shop is this cars mortal enemy" hahahaha

Amazing Job team!!! The transformation is out if this world! Keep up the good work!!

I can't believe you guys are working in this heat...

Thanks Marc! 3 more black cars next week...God help us! We had to move tomorrows job...119 degrees is a bit much even for us...plus didn't feel totally comfortable applying a coating in that kinda heat...didn't want to risk it not applying correctly ya know? But when it cools down to 111 next week we'll be back on it!
