Not if there is something in the road, litter, animal..that may blow/run away. The accident wouldn't have happened if following driver wasn't violating a law in their actions.

Driving cultures vary from place to place, so it depends where.
On the North American continent, drivers can't quite seem to figure out what the left lane is for. That never seems to be a problem in Germany.

I usually drive anywhere from 5 to 10 miles over the limit. Lately I've cruising to work at 70 and 75, getting to work around the same time and getting better gas mileage, lol. I used to drive 80 to 90 mph in the fast lane. If I'm going 70 or 75 in the slow lane and people tailgate me, they can go around. I usually stay out of the fast lane these days. I've gone 90 mph or more and still had people on my ass. It's a catastrophe waiting to happen.

I got a speeding ticket for going 75 on a 65 fwy.
$200 and something dollars.
Now at 65 MPH on the fwy, I just hit cruise control and coast all the way between 65-70 MPH
I have my audio system to compensate for my slower speeds.
I have gotten pulled over for disturbing the peace back when I was younger. I used to "Bump" always, no if's and or buts. Lol
You could hear me coming a block away haha
Now I roll up my windows and only "Bump" on the fwy.

..there's more but I'll stop. pretty much if you're stopping me from driving at my speed in the passing lane or preventing me from doing so for no legitimate reason I'm frustrated lol
- Drivers who drive too slow
- Drivers who stay in the passing lane and drive at the same speed or slower then cars in the slow lane.
- Drivers who change lanes and cut off drivers, especially on the GWB, even though both lanes exit onto the palisades parkway.
- Drivers who slow down/cut people off to cross over two lanes on the GWB to continue into Jersey when there is big lettering throughout the GWB on the lane saying "exit lane".
- Drivers who don't get out of your way on the passing lane
- Drivers who cause traffic/give the appearance of traffic by staying at the speed limit or under on the passing lane
- Drivers who dump things out on the highway liquids/etc causing me to have to avoid or it splash on my clean car, as though it was an emergency that they had to pour it out doing 60mph.
- Drivers who brake even though there is no car in front of them or the car is a considerably far distance in front of them
- Drivers that drive slow in the passing lane and when you change lanes to get around them they speed up
- Drivers who after you single and change lanes, or while you are in the process of changing lanes, they change lanes in front of you
- Drivers who slow down dangerously almost to a halt just because someone is pulled over on the side of the road.

Don't know if this was mentioned or not but sometimes it's not even a driver that frustrates me. Here in PA our highways are under continual maintenance (don't even ask about our Turnpike which they have the nerve to charge people for the privilege of driving on that POS). One of my biggest gripes is you'll be driving on the highway then come up to a 45 mph construction zone that has 18 miles of orange and white barrels and not one single worker anywhere to be seen. Does this madness happen in other states?

Yes NJ. Simply put, NJ, PA, and NY highways are probably some of the worst.
Another thing that bothers me is when people ride the lane line on those narrow NY bridges.
During my job this summer I've encountered almost every traffic situation on many NJ, PA, NY, and DE roads. Needless to say, they all suck, but a traffic free I95 is nice as there is usually a very fast traffic flow. Sometimes I think people confuse the name of the road with the speed limit :coolgleam:

Pulling 15k on a one way highway and up hills having to slow done because an idiot driving a car is slowing down. That and having to pass someone when pulling a trailer on a one way highway in the passing lane, but can't because I can't accelerate fast towing heavy. And when there's a passing lane, upcoming traffic is too close to make it around him. This goes on for 30min!

There is a funny saying here in Chicago.. "Chicago has two seasons; winter and construction". Which is VERY true..
Getting back to topic, I was driving home yesterday and a person in a Malibu was going 60mph in the left lane and all other lanes were passing them. This created a minor traffic and some musical cars. Once it was my turn to speed around this person, all you see is the head going up and down- texting!!! People like that should get their head ripped apart in pieces! :bash:

One thing I fail to understand is why do people brake on a highway with wide open road in front of them? I mean if you are speeding and you see a cop or if you are on a descending hill... I get it but don't people know that if you ease off the gas the car will gradually slow down? Why waste the brake pads?

Although it has other fancier names (like fuel cut-off operation)...
I still call this practice engine braking.
My only concern is that in the event of an "overrun"...
the possible damage that could be done to the catalytic converter due to incomplete combustion.
But it does: Save my Brakes...

Personally, I almost never touch the brakes on the highway. I just look far enough ahead and look at the traffic patterns in each lane to determine where I will end up in that pack if I maintain my speed. The only time I'll ever have to touch the brakes is because I am approaching stopped/ extremely slow traffic or an exit.

^^^I've seen this "tailgates-frustration" being posted quite often in this thread.^^^
Is it due to the feeling of: Imminent danger that, because of this type of driving-behavior, there may be a higher risk (%) of a
crash/accident occurring in which a person, their passenger(s), and/or their vehicle might be involved in some detrimental fashion?
Or is it that vehicular-accidents are not caused by the "Laws of Physics"...
But that vehicular-accidents are actually rooted in: Psychology?

The OP got mine; cigarette smokers. The second one is litter bugs. They always get the one finger salute from me.
I didn't read all the pages, but mine are:
* - People who drive just slow enough to be holding up people behind them, but fast enough that I end up having to speed to pass them. And of course, as noted before, they always seem to speed up to the speed limit whenever there's a passing zone.
* - People who fail to use turn signals. They're there for a reason. Mainly so others don't assume that you're just slowing down, attempt to go around you, only to have you turn directly in front of them.
* - Today was a good one, spent hours washing, and polishing my car this morning in advance of a show tomorrow that I'm going to check out. Figured I'd look nice. Halfway to work, guy in front of me decides that he doesn't know where he's going, so he pulls off the road...into the dirt shoulder, kicking dust and *#%# all up all over the place. Really? And then three more times on the way after that, were random trucks just far enough off the shoulder to kick up more dust. I realize they don't know I just washed it, but come on me, stay in the lines!
* - People who flick trash out, be it cigs, or anything else. I mean, if you're gonna litter, could you at LEAST wait until there isn't some right behind you?
* - People that freak when they see a cop. Really? If they were interested in you, they're getting you no matter what you do. If they aren't, then there's no friggin need to panic, and slow to under the speed limit and drive Miss Daisy for ten miles.
* - Also on that note, Rubberneckers. Yes, there was a fire, or an accident, or flood, or garage sale, or whatever. There are ALSO people behind you, that are traveling at the normal rate of speed, with places to go, and better things to do than to have to play guessing games as to what you're slowing for, and whether you're going to end up off the road because you aren't paying attention.
Did I mention slow people? I don't speed hardly at all any more, it's not worth it. But I do try to do at least the speed limit, up to 5 over. If you can't manage the limit, take a bus. If you're too nervous to keep up with traffic, get out of a car before you kill someone.

Pretty much everyone in front of me frustrates me. Once they're out of my way, then I don't care.
People who are on the phone, eating, or speed up when you go to pass them get to me the most. Along with people who pull out in front of me and don't get up to speed. A truck is hard to stop on a dime, especially with a trailer behind it.
I had a girl cut me off once on the hwy, she didn't even look. She then dumps her coffee out her window and it goes all over my truck. She finally gets back to the middle lane, so I pull up next to her and look over. She's texting and has another coffee in her hand. I hit my horn, which was a mini air horn. She jumps and spills her coffee all over her self. She looks at me, I laugh and then speed off. :laughing:
