Hey,
The sponge works well and takes up a fair amount of grit, most of which can get pressed out in the rinse bucket. But will the sponge hold up in a gentle cycle in a washing machine? Should it be washed with microfiber cloth?
Thanks Mike. I'll use the OP II and start with the red pad, then to the white, then move to the orange, then to the cyan. As I get more aggressive with the pads I'll back off on the pressure and the speed. Use the speed dialed in at 5-6 for the red/white, then go to 4-5 with the orange, and 3-4...
hey Mike,
In your piece "Use the least aggressive product to get the job done" you mention:
"A well rounded inventory would include,
Aggressive Compound for serious paint defects
Medium Cut Polish
Light Cut Polish
Finishing Polish
Hand applied paint cleaner
Cleaner/Wax
Non abrasive glaze...
Mike,
You've already helped diagnose the condition of my trunk lid (photos at: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/29189-how-do-i-know-if-i-need-compound-polish.html #8). I have a series of water marks on this single stage paint, obviously quite thin. I'm...
OK, thanks, snowking, I took a look at Mike's picture thread on water marks, etc. and I definitely have them on the trunk lid of my 1990 BMW. The problem is that it's single stage and the paint's very thin (has worn all the way through in a few places on the lid). I'm afraid to use any...
Is there a resource out there that would let me SEE what a 1200 scratch looks like in comparison to a 1500 or a 2000? I'd like to be able to match that up with what I'm seeing on my cars. I'd also like to know how many RPMs the dials settings (1-6) on the PC 7424XP represent. Then I can make...
I'm sure that this has been asked and answered before...I'm always reading about running the orbital polisher at a certain rpm number, but I don't know how to translate that into the dial settings on the polisher.
No, I never put pads in the washer or dryer. I let the polishing products (MF cloths and pads) soak in one 5 gallon bucket and the waxing/sealant products soak in another. I only use the washer for larger towels, like drying towels. I always air dry after wringing out.
Dammit, no, I cleaned the polishing pads and MF cloths together, and the wax/sealant pads and cloths together. OK, what will get screwed up?--the pads or the MF cloths?
I've got the Pinnacle Rejuvenator MF pad/cloth cleaner and have just polished and waxed my car. Can I throw the polishing products and the waxing products in together?
My '90 bimmer is now swirl free after using the OP II, but no Final Finish. My LSP has been either OCW (Optimum Car Wax), OptiSeal, or Collinite 845 over the past year. I have also clayed the bimmer twice over the past year.
Tomorrow I will be using my new PC7424XP for the first time with...
