    Losing the willpower

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I think I might try a combination of everyone's suggestions and see how it goes. I do love a clean car, and right now they're both as gross on the interior as they are the exterior. Once I have a nice day where I can get them both cleaned up a bit, I might think...

    Losing the willpower

That's something to consider, Troy. I'd just have to get it in my head that it needs to be done, and like you, make it a point to get up early. I'll weigh all of this before I hit that first tunnel wash!

    Losing the willpower

My boys are 7 and 4. My youngest has an interest in cars. Well, Disney Pixar Cars, that is! I could see getting them outside with me when they're a little older, but with as little as we seem to be home, I'd rather let them ride bikes and play on the swing set at their age. My wife and I both...

    Losing the willpower

Since I found AutoGeek, I've been hand washing both of our vehicles with the 2 bucket method. I'd seal/wax them both, a couple times a year, and last summer I used a coating for the first time on my car. I've found that my motivation to get out in the garage has lessened significantly in the...

    Freshly repaired wheels

You're probably right. The shop closes before I'm able to get there, so he parked the car outside with my key in a locked box, where he gave me the combination. It definitely rained pretty good, but from what I can tell the paint/clear was unaffected by it. I guess I'll wait until early fall to...

    Freshly repaired wheels

Thanks, Paul! That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure if (or why) wheel painting was any different than body paint. I know I wouldn't wax/seal a freshly painted bumper, so I assumed the same for wheels, but I'm excited to use two products I've never used before and I guess just needed...

    Freshly repaired wheels

Any thoughts? Or maybe I'll take silence to mean I should play it safe and not spray any chemicals on the wheels or use the McKee's 37 Wheel Coating until they've had time to cure....

    Freshly repaired wheels

I'm taking my wife and kids on a small trip, and when we get back I'll finally detail the car I bought last April. In preparation, I had a dent pulled that came with the car, and just today I had some rock chips in the painted wheels, repaired. There were enough chips in one wheel that they...

    Iron-X - Clarification

I'm a hobby detailer and have been polishing our vehicles for a few years now. Last year I bought a newer car that I haven't had a chance to touch, so later this month I want to polish the car and use a few products I've never used before. I have the McKee's 37 trio of coatings...

How can I make a car smell like new?

Don't forget to replace your cabin filter if you haven't already. Ideally, you should replace it once a year. A dirty cabin filter can contribute significantly to the poor air/smell quality of your vehicle. I'd start there, followed by a thorough interior cleaning. Depending on what you mean by...

    Most Expensive Auto Detailers

It boils down to charging what the market will bear. I don't think people who can afford exotic cars are dumb, and just pay more because they're told they're getting higher quality work with a $5k job as opposed to a $150 job. Those detailers just have a different market that they're targeting...

Do you have to drain it oil?

Yeah, that's going to be a problem. She's either leaking or burning oil if she regularly needs to top it off. As for the funnel, I think most people use a funnel to avoid having a mess to clean up. Using a funnel has nothing to do with how low the oil level is in her car. To answer your...

How do I clean my rubber floor matts?

I never put much thought into how to wash rubber mats. I take them out of the car, shake them off, spray with 10:1 Meguiar's APC+, run a brush over them, rinse, air dry. My wife has OEM rubber mats in her vehicle and I have some generic ones in mine. This method works on both. Keep it simple.
