What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Sunday detail on the truck.
Engine got Blackfire engine cleaner and Sonus motor kote.
Wheels and tires got Tw zip wash and Griots ceramic tire shine.
Interior got TWHS inside job and leather mist.
Weather-stripping got Sonus gummi pfledge.
Wheel wells cleaned with wheel and tire cleaner.
Finished with a coat of TWHS black wax.

So my g/f got back from a 12 hr, round trip to her g/f's out of state yesterday and the TAOS was trashed, I mean I took it through the touch-free wash yesterday, knowing full well it was only going to "skim the surface" and I couldn't have been more right

So early this morning I got after it:

Tire & Wheel clean & protect
-----------------------

-Turtle Wax Rapid Decon
-Brake Buster
-Griot's Foaming Tire Cleaner
-TAC System Water Flow
-FrankenDetailer
-All the brushes

Pre-wash & 2BM
--------------

-ADS Decon (finished it off)
-Griot's Foaming Surface Prep
-Adam's Graphene Shampoo

Starting with the tires & wheels it showed how well ADS Ghost repels dirty, the foam didn't really lift anything, Turtle Wax Rapid Decon didn't have too much to do, so between yesterday's touch-free wash and TAC System Water Flow the protection is working, easy clean up here

The pre-wash was pretty straight forward, as was the rinse and 2BM, everything washed away, water was beading pretty good but for good measure I applied a fresh coat of TAC System Water Flow to the entire car, as well as her rims

I finished up by moving it across the street to dry it and then simply used FrankenDetailer on the tires & wheels to even things out...done, or so I thought

Finishing up on the TAOS I couldn't help to notice my neighbors dirty Lexus SUV, so I decided to do a "mercy wash"

I ended up using the same products and tools on her tires, for the Pre-wash I used Griot's Garage Foaming Surface Prep and the 2BM wash was Feynlab PURE wash (almost finished with it)

The wash was straight forward but there was hardly and beading during the pre-wash and 2BM, so I decided a coat of TAC System Water Flow would be used on her car too

I was literally done drying the car and she came out, thanked me, gave me a hug and proceeded to tell me how good her car looked...that made it worth while! I told her when she gets back I'll be applying a tire coating to her tires, ADS Ghost, ofcoarse🤌

Now I'm inside doing laundry and gotta vacuum at some point, good thing it's a holiday so I've got the day off...Happy Memorial Day everyone, let's take a moment to remember how and why were able to read this long post about 2 car washes, I for one appreciate the ultimate sacrifice MANY made for us, you are NOT forgotten

I used BH Traceless for the first time when I did the in-laws car. The scent was nice but sort of a mental disconnect. Seemed to work well. Have to ask them if they noticed clarity. Their windows are wearing ADS glass.
Carpro Clarify Phobics plays very well with ADS glass coating, Traceless is awesome as a pure cleaner, Clarify Phobics a great glass booster/cleaner 🤌

Today was the first outdoor detailing of the season. It was 36 F this morning but by 9:00 AM it was 42 F. I had gotten most of my gear lined out on Friday but the rain set in Saturday evening and yesterday. I saw a small window this morning and pulled the little blue car out for a good look and it wasn't pretty.

IMG_6498.jpegIMG_6495.jpeg

I wasn't even sure what I was going to do but I knew it would start with BH AF in my IK12 and then a good foaming. I had been talking to Setec about hybrid washes and was contemplating that but went ahead and got rinseless as well as a bucket wash ready, just in case.

I started on the tires and wheels and used TW Hyper Foam and because I already knew that the TW spray nozzle sucks really bad so I had dumped the bottle into my IK 2 and pumped it up with the compressor and man, did it foam

IMG_6501 copy 2.jpeg

I took my time and deep cleaned the wheels and tires although I skimped on the arches today. My shoulder was already getting not happy

I got the AF on and let it dwell and then foamed it with ADS Shampoo+ at 3 oz to 30 oz in my MTM cannon. While I wasn't very impressed last fall with the Shampoo+ in a bucket wash it made an excellent foam consistency. I let it dwell and rinsed it and took a long hard look at the car and the nooks and crannies had so much crap in them I knew it was going to take a boars hair brush, soap, and a good contact bucket wash so that is the way I went. I foamed the car again and got my spray bottle of heavy Megs Hyper Wash and got to work on emblems, window frames, and all the areas around the glass and plastic on the back end where the accumulation was the worst. I will repeat what I said last summer and fall, either the last gallon of Megs HW I bought has a problem or my water doesn't like it because I have to triple the ratio to get a soap solution that I feel is safe and cleans well. It is the same in the cannon, it won't make good foam unless I at least double the suggested amount. NV Snow and Snow+ at their suggested ratios, as well as Adams at it's suggested ratios work just fine, but not the HW.

I even broke open a new bottle of Gold Class, which I haven't used in a few years and YUCK. That stuff is an unbelievable consistency now. It was always thick and gloppy but now it is like Jello mixed with honey or something. It wouldn't even go into the foam cannon through the funnel so I tossed it in the wash bucket

I rinsed the car after brushing out the cracks and foamed it a last time and did a multi mitt 1 bucket wash. I rinsed it a final time and got the Ego out and blew everything out and the roof and hood were pretty flat with almost no protection left. I missed some dirt in cracks and I also also noticed the hatch and back quarters are hammered and need a clay towel treatment but the weather was turning and I wanted to get it dried and back in the garage. I finished with a handful of 16x24 Gauntlet towels and ADS Amplify; I am just trying to use it up and probably won't order any more. It doesn't impress me although I know a lot of you really love it

The car looks nice but it needs a deeper cleaning and a good clay towel session, so I think I will leave it in the garage and do a good rinseless, hit the cracks I missed, and hit it with the clay towel and then get a good coat of Megs HCW on everything

The tires need some ADS Tire+ as well but I will wait until there is no chance of residual water

Not a bad cloud shot

Man that glacier dust is no joke.

We are actually spared the worst of it where we are

We are about 5 miles from the closest part of the Matanuska River and a bit farther from the Knik River

Both are glacial and both are extremely wide from the eons of spring breakup and flooding

Then the rivers return to the smaller channels and the biggest part of the river bed dries out and is subject to all the winds that come down through the passes

We see these horrendous dust storms that run right past the actual town of Palmer and just trash everything

Mix it with some rain and drive through it and presto, concrete

Ads decon v1 on the wheels/tires.
Labo primus 2.0 1:0, followed by labo purifica 1:30 in IK multi on 3ach panel and clean3d with purifica in bucket.

Last ads tire+ on tires and PA cosmic spritz on paint. Forgot how nice this product was.

Line side stocking is where the manufacturer provides the product to the distributor free of charge at the seller's site (or something similar) and when the distributor sells a product they then pull into "their" stock (buy product from manufacturer) and then ships it. The seller pays the manufacturer. Most of holding cost the risk is on the manufacturer so the seller is not holding millions of dollars in stock. Our company did it.

What are your thoughts on this....comes out in March....more of the same IMO

I keep checking on this to see if it is out yet and as of today the release has been pushed back to July

I will keep checking

Hopefully it has more correction capability than their green bottle AIO

Just remember a 3 in 1 does 33% of each thing...clean, polish & protect

I'm throwing a flag on that play. OK, I'll bite, what is "line side stocking"?

And in the case of Amazon, you can sell in (at least) 2 ways: Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) & Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA).

FBM the order comes to the merchant’s Amazon Seller Center and is fulfilled by merchant like any ‘ol order that is placed on merchants direct online store.

With FBA the merchant sends stock to Amazon who then fulfills directly from that stock without merchant intervention aside from ‘restocking’ Amazon when needed.

Dunno for sure but in mentioned case with Sonax, perhaps they found it advantageous to get limited stock up & available on Amazon before distributing to other, more limited visibility sites like Autogeek and other similar entities.

While detailing ‘geeks’ first go to online detailing vendor sites, Amazon has far greater visibility to the world as a whole.

Or not…just a possibility I guess.

Simple wheel cleaning on the Qashqai, while the car itself was clean, the wheels hadn't been cleaned for a month or two. Plenty of bleeding from Bowden's Wheely Clean, especially on the fronts. Not much hydro behaviour on the rinse off, I'll have to put some protection on them later, from memory they had 303 Touchless Sealant. And yes, the tyres need some attention, but it's windy outside, so that can wait PSX_20250528_144513.jpgPSX_20250528_144627.jpgPSX_20250528_144743.jpg
