What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

absurd, we have the magnuson moss warranty act here in the US that protects you even with mods (unless they can reasonably claim the mod was the cause of the failure.) Had to get my GLI serviced recently and Ive only had 2 oil changes at the dealer on that car. No issues whatsoever

I always kind of wonder if anyone has effectively used this though. Somehow I don't see them rolling over easily to honor it... and then court fees, lawyers, etc

That is exactly correct, the burden of proof remains on YOU

The law is a game and the outcome depends on how well you are able to play it

Oh its very difficult, but has been done. The biggest thing here being they cant claim that your new sway bar is the reason that your AC stopped working.

Most dealers are fine with DIY unless you've done something completely boneheaded. They deal with people that come in with tar in their oil pans, those are the issue. On top of a log and recpiets, I take pictures of my oil changes just in case, but it hasn't been an issue for 3 decades.

What is that?

I can’t read what it says at the bottom of the steering wheel

It’s the Ineos grenadier.

Good choice on the wheels, it's a good look.

Yeah those are the nicest OEM. I put aftermarket wheels on all my cars as I like it to look different than the other ones. But these will be winter wheels. 33x12.5 recon grapplers for tires

Just ordered these…. The bronze version just couldn’t sell myself on with this color. I am adding red center caps to match the red toe hook on the winch and red lettering

My sister in law has a 2024 VW Golf and just a basic service oil,oil filter air filter, cabin filter was going to set her back $800 this would be done at a cost of $200 hourly rate the service manager said.
For me, this was a new one. I took my DD in for a routine oil change, going to a local dealer because they were open on a Saturday and my usual independent guy is not. The dealership had recently been rebuilt from the ground up. The service area had two sets of arches set into the superwide concrete driveway. I get to my service guy, who while writing me up, says, we scanned your car when you drove in and you also need a wheel alignment. I told the guy I wasn't getting any pulling or seeing any uneven tire wear. Among the things the service guy starts telling me is that there would be unnoticeable and unusual damage to car if I didn't have the alignment. My comment was "you mean like the unsusual drain to my bank account?" Needless to say, I didn't get my compimentary bottle of water waiting for me in my ride, post service.

LOL, that sounds more like a protection racket than vehicle service. "Yeah, that's a real nice car youse got dere; be a real shame if somethin' were to happen like you couldn't notice but might result in *unusual* damage . . . you know what I mean? Real shame, it would be." :ROFLMAO:

Last guy that made fun of my protection racket got knee capped

I remember you telling about it a short while back and I remember wondering if I might have actually seen one and thought it was a 110 Defender

No offense

Story is billionaire named Jim Ratcliffe who owns an a electric chemical company. He was sad when the defender got discontinued and tried to buy the rights and tooling.

Land Rover said no so he decided to build his own off road vehicle similar to the Defender. He even got sued by Land Rover but they loss with courts saying you can’t patten shapes.

So yes very much like a modern day Defender. Ineos is the name of his company but believe it or not one of the final things in me buying it is Grenadier is the name of his favorite pub and where it was conceived so he named it after it.

You name your vehicle you designed (somewhat) and engineered from the ground up and named it after you favorite bar…. You got my vote.

Way to give it the kiss of death, Deyon

As soon as people start loving on a Meg's product they discontinue it

I better stock up

Hmm, maybe I should start endorsing some of the absolute duds, rid the detailing world of some of the rubbish. Cough, Endurance Tire Gel, Cough, D180 Leather Cleaner & Conditioner.

Some rich guy wanted to buy the Holden name and the factories to continue manufacturing Commodores in Australia. GM refused. Instead, GM ran the name into the ground and shut it down.

One of my favorite detailers.

Just be thankful you aren't presented with the $47.99 pricing that the Australian Megs distributor asks for HCD. A quick sweep of Google shows two large auto retailers selling it for $52.99 and $54.00, while another has it on sale for $37.09. I often hear from people who don't even consider this product simply because of the price. And the main target audience shopping at those retailers looks past it for cheaper Megs products. It's such a shame because HCD is brilliant, super easy to apply, lovely slickness, warm glossy appearance and excellent hydrophobics.

I've had my eye on it for a little while, but was waiting for it to go on sale, and also I didn't want to buy something new without having finished something off (Red Mist), I also found I have an almost full bottle of Meg's Last Touch D155 at the back of the shelf, I'll be passing that on to my nephew, it was ok, but it just didn't stand out on the shelf.
