What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

it's better than "electric pickup that looks like a garbage dumpster". i spot Rivians fairly often on the road.

Like Tesla, there is not a dealer in Alaska, so that’s a pretty gutsy move, bringing one up here

There were 3 add on packages, each one was more expensive, and the last and longest in the list jacked the price of the truck from $53,000 to over $68,000

They kept going on about "what if the infotainment screen goes out, it costs blah blah blah" and on and on

I can fix a lot of stuff for $15,000 and if I had that little faith in the product I was buying, I wouldn't be buying it

You can't advertise and sell a brand based on "legendary dependability" and then play boogie man and try to scare people into paying 30% more
This is genius. I actually think my new plan will be:

"No shit, you're right! If you're wanting to sell me all this extra protection, you must not even believe in your own product. Thanks for saving me a bad decision. BYE"

My sister in law has a 2024 VW Golf and just a basic service oil,oil filter air filter, cabin filter was going to set her back $800 this would be done at a cost of $200 hourly rate the service manager said.

And not one Australian mechanic at the dealership all dual citizens properly on $25 hour.

They went to a local independent mechanic instead

That’s insane

My basic oil change services for the big car and truck are free for the duration of the warranty

I’ll give them that

From what the Meg's product guy said, they will not keep a product in the line up if it does not meet some minimal sales volume and he admitted their minimum is higher than one would expect.

They sell it everywhere, even Lowe's, so hopefully with that kind of exposure it has good sales numbers

Carquest has car care BOGOHOs every now and then so I think I will grab a couple more

insane, my GTI service is like 200 bucks. I do it myself though, because much like detailing I prefer to spend extra on products that make me feel better about whats in my car. (I use Motul, is it better? IDK, do i feel better? yes) Still cheaper doing it myself with high end oil than a dealer oil change.

Yeah it's absolute bull shit what they were going to charge,
If it was a 100,000k service ie a major one then yes i can understand.

it's about $100 an hour a service technician/mechanic charge
At dealership's.

But here in Australia if you service your car by yourself under warranty and you're not a licensed mechanic, you void all warranty! Period.

One Ford dealer chain has a quick lube line to handle maintenance tasks. It is based upon mechanic skill level so rate is different.

absurd, we have the magnuson moss warranty act here in the US that protects you even with mods (unless they can reasonably claim the mod was the cause of the failure.) Had to get my GLI serviced recently and Ive only had 2 oil changes at the dealer on that car. No issues whatsoever
