What happens is they say it lasts 2-5-10 years, but in fact its only a sealant. Usually they are acrylic sealants and they work, but are applied poorly. What they are actually selling is a warranty on the paint or interior and not the actual application of whatever product it may be. The 5-10...

But there is a difference in silicones: PDS- Polydimethylsiloxane DMS- Dimethalsiloxane StockPolo6R is correct...DMS is used in solvent based dressings; this is the culprit. Not all silicones are bad.

Consider that when its cold out you lose absorbency. Much harder to do everything in colder weather; including drying a car. This is assuming of course that you JUST started noticing this.
