    Parking lot Wars

I ALWAYS choose a corner spot (less sides to get dinged on), typically at the back of the lot.

Toyota's white paint is single-stage. I'm sure most of their other colors are bc/cc.

    Yup, Tire Foam!

50/50 mix of Opti Bond looks perfect, IMO. I filled up a fine-mist spray bottle with this mix and sprayed a fine, even mist around my tires yesterday after washing my car. Forgot all about it after going inside to eat and when I came back out (an hour or so) the product had dried and left a...

2012 Mustang GT 5.0 full paint correction - Opticoat 2.0

The OC 2.0 is holding up much better to swirling than the factory paint. I got my Dad set up on the right products for washing and drying, but he's not a detailer so I have noticed some areas of slight swirls but it's really nothing bad at all and still looks excellent under sunlight. He doesn't...

A spray wax that beads well

There are almost zero CarQuest stores out here, but one happens to be a mile from my office. Picked up some Aquawax a couple weeks ago and have been loving it ever since. Very nice stuff.

    Lake Country CCS Defective?

I've had this same experience using the 4" ccs pads. I think it just occurs if excess heat and pressure build up. Can't really think of any other reason that it would happen.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!! Swirls galore :(

The paint on those cars is super soft. Try finishing with Menzerna SF4500 after using M205. I detailed a black 2012 GT and M205 left a fair amount of hazing.

    Wash Bucket Options

I personally love the Griot's wash bucket. Built in grit guard, measurement lines and no need for a 2 bucket wash if you use a foam cannon and pre rinse. I have seen zero wash induced scratches and swirls on my daily driver using this combo.

Wolfgang paint sealant why have you forsaken me?

Agree 100%. The sealant has nothing to do with there being water spots. Water spots will always form when water droplets form on paint, collect dust/dirt/etc, and then dry.

What carnauba waxes won't stain trim?

I haven't used many different carnauba's, but I did just pick up some Chemical Guys XXX hardcore paste wax and used it last night. No staining on trim and it was really easy to work with and so far I like the look in the sun. High gloss and good depth.

Thinking of starting my own radio program

I actully host an hour long AM radio show once a month in Seattle as a part of my job. An hour show is pretty easy to fill content-wise by yourself, but "expert" guests keep things fresh. You really only need about 35 minutes of show material after subtracting time for commercials (assuming...

Tried the Optimum MF cutting discs on a traditional DA today...

I have to agree that the performance of these pads is very good. I'm still trying to dial in the proper technique when using them. So far I've had three pads delaminate on me (face of the pad separated from the foam backing). I've noticed that they get quite warm after finishing a panel so I'm...

    OPC to the rescue

My brother bought a '95 Formula Firehawk a couple weeks ago with grey leather. Very well maintained and straight car, but it still needed some attention to bring back the like-new look inside. Here's a quick 50/50 after spraying Optimum Power Clean diluted 3:1 on the driver's seat and...

sonax vs iron x vs mothers

I like Sonax's cleaning ability, but the fact that it doesn't foam (more messy when using the Daytona Speedmaster) kinda annoys me and lends me to using Griot's Heavy Duty wheel cleaner much more often. It's cheaper and works great, smells much better too.

    Foaming doesn't make sense

Sounds like how I have things. I've been using CG Maxi-suds II, and it foams well, but the soap you're using in that pic foams even better. I'll have to give CWG a shot next time I need soap.
