Dent and chip on new car

Properly applied any correctly color matched paint will produce a superior result if you put in the time. Gently sand the area around the chip, apply paint into the chip until it is above the surrounding area. Let it fully harden and this could take a month. Sand down the excess paint until it...

The vehicle of my dreams is still under development. I want a THOR RV conversion built on the not yet developed Mercedes Sprinter chassis with class 5 autonomous driving. I want to be able to set my destination, get up from the drivers seat, go into the back and make a sandwich, use the...

    2007 Cayman (2 year refresh)

I didn't know they had bugs that big in Canada. But that's the type of car I like to start with. There is no way you can not tell if you finished and area, or not. Great work as usual. I always have more fun working on a car where you can REALLY make a difference. :dblthumb2: :buffing:

    Trying/choosing new car shampoos

I went nuts a while ago when I visited the Chemical Guys Factory store. They had just about every shampoo on the dent and blem shelf near the front door. I got Mr. Pink, Honeydew, Maxi-Suds, and one other I can't remember the name of. I also have several from Meguiars, one from Zaino - the Z-7...

What lighting are you using in your residential garage

I have a bunch of four foot fluorescent fixtures with two bulbs in each one. But Costco had LED 48" fixtures and bulbs on sale last month and I will be putting them up and giving them a try soon. They are supposed to be daylight color temperature too.

2008 Porsche 911 4S, Ultimate Exterior package, CQuartz Finest application, wheels off coating, and headlight restoration

What an incredible result. I always though that Porsche owners were supposed to incredibly finicky. But I guess the previous owner was just to busy having fun driving it. If I attempted that job I would have spent two weekends on it. How long did it take you to get that level of result?

Ding question related to clear coat

A very slight ding is the perfect patient for the PDR Doctor. And if you find the right guy he may be willing to several for the price of one. Mainly due to their being so slight. I had a PDF guy in Santa Monica that would charge by the hour. And he did beautiful work. Unfortunately he went back...

    Best Microfiber Towel

I am still using MF from over ten years ago. Washed only in cold water with MF soap. Then before I put them in my dryer I trow a sopping wet towel in the dryer and let it roll around for ten minutes with NO HEAT. This picks up any trace of dust or lint from clothes. Then I toss in the MF towel...

Lexus SC430 Paint Correction - Pro Corrections - Nashville, TN

Fabulous turn around! And a big thumbs up to the owner for having the guts to buy a red Lexus. Instead of a Gray, Silver, or Black one. Boring, boring, and boring colors.

is it safe to use pressure washer to wash car?

I have a gas powered washer with 4400 psi and have no problem using it for removing mud and heavy dirt build up. As was already said just be sure to use the wide nozzle to keep the amount of average pressure hitting the paint down to a safe level. Even a 1200 psi washer can harm paint if used...

Parking Lots - bit of a rant

My favorite moron in the parking lot story was something that I encountered many years ago. I got back early from lunch and was sitting in my old Ford Wagon reading when I saw another car cruising around looking for a space. She found one, right next to a brand new convertible BMW and I knew the...

Interior Odors and the use of Ozone

I have a cheapo Ozone generator and it does a very good job of removing the absolute most disgusting odor possible. High and low baby leakage. Even after shampooing, extracting, cleaning the vents with expanding foam, and putting a fan inside the vehicle for several days it still stank like...

1972 Olds Cutlass - Evolution Auto Detailing, Fishkill NY

I wonder if the paint may have actually been sanded. Then the guy that does the buffing didn't come in that day so the shop just threw a coat of wax on top of the 1500 grit sanding job. All that car really needed was another ten or twelve hours of "finishing up" :dblthumb2:

Black Lexus LS460 Paint Correction - Pro Corrections - Nashville, TN

Fantastic save on a terrible body shop abortion. I'm sure it didn't look that good the day it was driven home from the dealer. New But I really don't like those wheels. Especially here in Los Angeles. With that tiny an amount of sidewall the wheel would be ruined the first month. I switched...

    what are you currently watching?

It's funny that I watched the two old dudes skateboarding a few weeks ago. But what I am currently watching is the final episode of Harley and the Davidsons. Plus I am saving it on DVD to show to several die hard Harley riders that I have known for fifty years now.

    C2 Corvette refresh

If it was a 63' then it is my favorite model of Corvette. The split window 63 coupe is the most incredible jump in styling I have ever seen. And that is quite a custom.
