looks like chrome to me, if that is the case take a magnet an stick to it. scratched chrome cannot be fixed. would be cheaper to replace.jonathan

it does not sound like you are sanding enough with the finer grades. a pigtail shows the oscillation of the sander. you have the same marks with finer grits you just can not see them because there is more grit closer on the paper. jonathan

To get the paint to stick to the clear it has to be sanded enough for it to grab ahold to the existing paint. If thats not done the paint will just peal off. so this will remove the oc. Jonathan

Steve, i talked to my friend, an he give the advise that has been given on here. I would get on the computer an find out as much info as you can. Find who is doing the best painting in town and have the hood resprayed. and maybe go ahead and have the roof done to. If they can not clear the roof...

The paste I have used is from eastwood. It looks good and last but I would not use it on any thing but for show. Its been own my exhaust for 2 yrs now an still doing good. But like I wrote earlier you can rub your finger on it an it will smear on your finger after 2 years. Jonathan
