Popular Mechanics - Interior protectants harmful to your trim

Back in the 90's, pep boys stopped carrying AA, and the people who worked there would tell everyone that it was because AA had water and alcohal, so it would dry things out and damage things. I don't know if they stock it now or not.

Mothers "All Wheel" Cleaner, is it Safe?

there are a couple of posts on waxforum dot com (a mothers forum) where that stuff ruined some wheels. One was a bmw where 2 or 3 of the wheels were refinished and the paint wasn't cured right. It didn't affect the factory finished wheel, but damaged the others. Also there was someone else...

What tire dressing do you use?

M40 seems a pretty good choice as far as OTC availability. I have not had any sling using it (but I do have mud flaps) Here are my tires with M40 on them.. It was applied yesterday and was driven for 300 miles. It does seem to last about 2-3 weeks, but a little Westleys bleeche white and...

Tried souveran and fuzion...so what next?

Any type of wax that I use attracts dust really bad. I think it is just the nature of of buffing the wax off that causes static and it attracts dust. The next time I wash, it dissipates (or neutralizes) the charge, and then I am good to go.

    Brake dust help.....

This may be a bit "old school" but have you tried any steel wool with some glass cleaner? (only if they are chrome and don't have any type of clear)

How can I avoid Rotary Buffer Swirls/holograms

I have never detailed anything to perfection (but some deserve an honorable mention) but I guess it is good to know as much as possible. :xyxthumbs:

    Eagle 1 tire swipes changed

I'll have to check big lots and find out what a fingernail brush is!! But for now, I'll keep poking in auto parts stores to see if they have any hiding towards the back of the hang pegs.

How can I avoid Rotary Buffer Swirls/holograms

I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I have used the rotary quite a bit (production body shop) and my own cars a bit. I have had somewhat descent results and some bad ones.. One of the most important things imo is trying to center the pad best as possible on the buffer. Also as mentioned...

Claybar problems - Can't get it smooth and glassy

There are more agressive bars you can try (usually reddish in color) but they may mar the finish a bit and then it will require buffing. Meguiars has this in thier professional line.

    Eagle 1 tire swipes changed

I know these aren't something AG carries, but I'm sure many use these together with stuff AG has. (Mods please delete this thread if it goes against forum rules) I've been a long time user of E1 tire swipes, but they seem to have changed (not for the better IMO) The new ones seem to be made...

    glass cleaners and towels

I have the Adam's as well, but I am not too impressed with it. It smells great and comes in a nice bottle and they seem like a great company, but it doesn't seem to have good cleaning ability. You actually have to work the product quite a bit in order for it clean anything, and you really have...

    Taping problems

Interesting... I can vouch for the white "Ultimate wipes" as they don't scratch. I had a black celophane wrapper that I was wiping down, and it would marr up like crazy with almost any MF towel. I then used a spritz of "final inspection" and an ultimate wipe and had no marring at all. ( I...

    Glass streaks

I have no experience with it, but I have read that Surf City Garage Clearly Better Glass Cleaner can be used in the sun. Might be an interesting expirament. I personally use IG with a 3M microfiber detail cloth and that is a winning combination for me. I also have some Adams Glass Cleaner...
