Surprised by weight of Griot's Garage ROP

Today, my favorite guy (the UPS man) dropped off my latest shipment of detailing supplies. The GG ROP was front and center. After pulling it out of the box and admiring the 25 foot cord, I noticed how much heavier it was than my G100/PC7424. It actually caught me by surprise. I guess I...

    Soft CC problem - SOLVED!

Very nice information, TL. I worked on an '09 StreetGlide in black. Just as you described, it was a nightmare working on. I found using Meguiar's DC1 Paint Cleaner and a Meg's finishing pad (the hand held ones) worked great. It was the only thing I could come up with at the time. That...

    Best OTC clay

The best OTC clay? That's easy. The one you like the best. I can't say I'd take someone's word for it when it comes to detailing products. There are too many subjective things. For example, rwright said he loved Mother's clay. I, personally, hate it. Used it for 5 seconds and threw it...

    Cooling your garage

I have a friend that has an air conditioned garage. It's like buffing out a car in your living room. Too bad he lives in Florida and I now live in Colorado. Oh yeah, my garage is cooled - I just open the door! Colin

Have you ever messed up a customers car?

Rasky manned up last year and posted on here and MOL about paint wrinkle on plastic bumpers. Most people wouldn't want to show their mistake to the world, but Rasky decided to use his mistake as a learning experience for everyone else. I have crazy respect for Rasky and anyone else who mans up...

    Air Compressor tools?

You'll also want a tank big enough to support the air hungry tools. You don't want your compressor running the whole time you're working. Only the super expensive compressors have a 100% duty cycle, meaning the compressor can run the whole time and not burn up. Colin

    Air Compressor tools?

CFM stands for cubic feet per minute. This is the volume of air the compressor can supply. Air tools take A LOT of air volume to run. Check the CFM requirements on the air tools you want, then pick a compressor that exceeds those requirements. Colin

    This is crazy stuff.....

And you would think the murderers are getting more than 5-10, but they're not. This doesn't surprise me. Of course given my career field, nothing surprises me anymore. Colin

Mirror Detailing - Mustang GT - Holy Holograms

Good Lord!! Some "detailers" need to be shot. Unbelievable someone would take the time to "detail" a car and leave it like that! Nice save, by the way. The car looks gorgeous. Colin

    My 2010 Black Mustang GT

Sounds like a good idea. Not so sure you'd hit the 500 mark, but I like it. How about the new commercial showing the sterling grey metallic V6? That car looks sick! I love the color and the black wheels on it. Colin

    Product Review: Megs D151

Work time is great. I love D151. I'm always impressed with what it can do - headlights, tail lights, bug deflectors, mild waterspotting on windows, etc. I've seen smooth black plastic side mirrors polished to perfection with it, too. D151 is awesome. Colin

    Hardest part of detailing?

That's the one I had for a long time. Didn't care much for it, though. It does work really well to get in between a camper shell and the rear window on a pickup. Just screw in an extension pole to the end of it. I gave it to my father-in-law for that purpose. Colin

    Hardest part of detailing?

Cleaning the inside of the windshield!! I hate cleaning those things. You have to be a contortionist to clean some of them. Colin

3.5" Backing Plates and 4" Spot Repair Pads on DA Polishers

I've got the black backing plate you show, 2.75", and use it with the 3.5" red and white pads AG sells. I, too, noticed the DA was tippy when using. It takes a little more attention when using, but once you get use to it, they're great. I used the smaller pads the other day to buff out a...
