delivery charge for car in showroom??

The delivery charge is often shipping from the manufacturer to your dealer. You're possibly thinking about "dealer prep" which is another racket altogether. Some car dealers are worse than others with fees and explanations. And leases can be worse than a straight financed purchase. Sorry you...

    Black Friday Computer Purchase Help

Late to the thread, and suggest like some others, you look for the fastest CPU/Processor you can find. Disk drives, RAM are all easy upgrades. Look for at least an Intel I5. And while I've bought several different models for friends, I'm partial to the Dell --OUTLET-- where you can usually...

    Receipts

I purchased inexpensive no-carbon-required (NCR) paper from Amazon and print the work order/authorization on 2 pages. I get one, customer gets one. No questions and infinitely flexible because the paper is blank.

Winter car care!!! What are you going to be doing?

Opti-coat and multiple frosty beverages to the point where I no longer care about what the truck looks like?

    Business side of detailing

Not critical, IMO, but can help set you apart from the $59 Craigslist "Pros". You could also launch to Friends and Family, asking them to volunteer a token amount to cover supplies as you practice your technique, get your time down and gather a bunch of nice photos to show your future clients...

    Am I crazy?

You could gently use the occasion for a little upsell later..."You might consider a little paint polishing to remove some additional aging. It makes the car even shinier and the wax tends to last a bit longer" It might also be that the customer's budget doesn't allow fully turning you loose, or...

Mike Phillips VIF or Vehicle Inspection Form

Re: Mike Phillips - Vehicle Inspection Form - Version 2 Mike: Winter means a LOT of interior details. Please e-mail me the new-improved VIF v.2.0

    My detailing shelf exploded...

Major bummer, Romans. Glad, however that the cars, rest of the house, spouse, etc. etc. are OK. Could have been much worse. And AG is running that nice sale for July 4th :)

    Experience with Donlen Fleet billing?

Thanks Joe. They said they would issue P.O. before, then I fax a signed invoice and get a card number to bill next day. Sounds too easy compared with the usual net 30 you describe. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk

    Experience with Donlen Fleet billing?

Any experience with billing Donlen Fleet Management? Kind of a complex p.o., fax, call process to get a c.c. number to change for payment. I normally get payment from clients upon completion, not an option for this single car job. If the fleet management company is a pain, I may pass on this...

    Deep cleaning foam pads

I would be concerned about loosening the glue that holds the velcro on the pad, but only way to know for certain is to try it with one or two pads. Snappy Clean, DP Pad cleaner or similar product isn't that expensive and does a great job.

    Dr color chip

In my case on a dark red Tacoma, the paint match is perfect. So perfect, in fact, that from a couple feet away you can't even see the blob from where I chickened out with the wet sanding. Highly recommend the Dr. Very easy to use.

Need help with touch up paint

Vote here for Dr. Colorchip available here or online. Can be dabbed on with a toothpick or brush to help with long gashes. Used it on a 6" long bicycle-handlebar gash on my truck door and the paint-match is perfect even though my application isn't totally smooth.

Leaves/Grit stuck in MF after Rinseless wash

I've found that some types of debris is easier to see or remove when the towel is soaking wet. I usually inspect carefully as they go from washer to dryer. And washing in separate batches is a good idea to contain the damage.

    How would you fix this?..

Pictures? I've hired PDR (Paintless Dent Removal) guys to remove parking lot door dings and larger. That's a specialty as complicated as good detailing, so not certain it's DIY.

    Black paint dulling options...

Congrats Wisconian...you've found out that a good, thorough wash, clay, polish can do wonders. The photos look like you could call it "done", especially for someone who hasn't waxed the car in, what, 14 years? (and how does someone with the handle "Wisconian" end up in Ohio?) Wisconsin...

    New guy

Welcome, Luke. If you like Pinnacle, you'll love the regular BOGO sales to stock up on the products you like. Don't forget to add free samples to qualifying orders, or just buy a small sample. Better to spend $5, than a full bottle you may not like. You might also try some of the Wolfgang...

    Washing floor mats

And go to your favorite lumber yard and get some plastic-faced paneling. Screw a couple sheets to the wall for water resistance and use one of the other suggestions above for the holders.

    Xmt 360 aoi

XMT is pretty mild. If you are one-stepping a well maintained vehicle, it could work. I use D151 for more typical daily-drivers, good to have as a backup if XMT doesn't do it. And if you google a bit, you can find a place selling 12-ounce samples of D151 to try. No need to commit to a gallon...
